This is such an awesome collection. The whole aesthetic is so on-point. Wish there was more games (5200, Lynx, and Jag) but they did such a good job with everything else, that it doesn't matter. It's NICE to FINALLY play games that used analog controls with on-point emulation. 5200 Super Breakout, for example is actually playable, compared to the past Flashback collections. I can't overstate how slick the overall aesthetic is. The music, the video transitions, the fonts. The scans (manuals, ads). Even the commercials! There's a commercial that apparently aired in theaters, highlighting Atari tech at the time. It used early CGI. It's superb! The video interviews are so awesome too. Everything is from the heart, the good and the bad, the funny and the more serious. Highly recommend this!

@@linksavetheday yeah totally! I guess I’d like more 5200/7800/Lynx games, really. I suppose licensing played a role. Someone on GOG mentioned the lack of ST games/history. That would have been cool to see too! The Falcon was mentioned briefly in the collection, but that’s it.

What I like about this is that it's a documentary you can experience yourself. Regardless of the games, thinking about this as a "celebration" instead of a collection makes 40$ feel like the price of a tour ticket. I'm only 18 and I got this tour, and I loved it.

Been messing around with this for a few days now, and I LOVE it. All the videos were awesome because you get stories (some of which were rumored before this) and insight into this industry that we've never been given before. Just Fantastic. For compilations, I give this a 9/10.

I grew up with late 90s early 2000s games and I bought this game because I do love gaming history. Any chance I can get to learn and experience that history I will take. I wanted to jump straight into the games, but the history portion really got me invested to see before playing any of the games. I am loving it so far.

Bought this last night via the Microsoft Xbox store and think its awesome. The video interviews and photos and the way it all links up with the games along the timeline you can play is amazing. I like also how it gives you a percentage of how much of it you have discovered. Well worth the €40 I paid for it. I would have liked to get a boxed one but Gamestop couldn't find it when I went there to pick it up (I reserved the one they had showing as in stock). I tried a few other stores and they hadn't heard of it so in the end got a digital copy.

@Madlittlepixel Slightly on topic, AtGames just put out two new versions of their Atari mini. The Atari Flashback 50th Anniversary Edition (comes with two wired joysticks and 110 games) and the Atari Flashback 50th Anniversary Edition Gold (comes with two wired joysticks, two wired paddles and 130 games). Both 50th Anniversary Edition Flashbacks use the more authentic 2600 mini console shell that was used on the Flashback X from 2019, but the switches are now brass gold (instead of chrome silver) and on the wood veneer trim there is a gold Atari 50 logo stamped onto it (instead of the traditional silver Atari logo).

Would've loved to see even more arcade games as well as more Lynx and Jaguar as you said. Additional 5200 and 7800 would've been cool to see as well. They could've easily included 200 games on here. Two immediate omissions from the collection that puzzled me were the arcade versions of Battlezone and Red Baron. These two have been on countless other Atari collections over the years but not this one for some reason. I really wanted to see more early Atari arcade games from the 1970's as most of the ones Atari made during that time have yet to be officially rereleased. I was especially hoping that we'd see Atari's first game Computer Space rereleased after 51 years. I do love Akka Arrh finally getting the official release it deserved and seeing I,Robot, Cloak & Dagger, and Quantum finally get much needed official rereleases, but it just felt like they could've included more games that haven't been officially rereleased. I really wish WB would do more Midway collections or just give Atari the rights to the separate Atari Games division of the original Atari that made arcade games after 1983. The arcade games after 1983 were amazing too! Atari ST or Atari XE games being present would be nice, but you can't have everything I guess. Another thing that could've been cool is a return of the Atari trivia game from Atari Greatest Hits Volume 1 on DS. Overall an excellent collection, but there could've been a bit more to the games list.

Atari sold the Battlezone IP to Rebellion, so it's no longer their property and they no longer own the rights to it. Rebellion made the 2016 Battlezone game, which was initially a VR title but was later re-tooled for normal play. It's a shame Atari couldn't (or didn't try to) find a way to license Battlezone back from Rebellion in a limited way that would've allowed them to include the arcade and 2600 versions in this compilation, for completion's sake. If anything, I think the "classic" versions of Battlezone appearing in this compilation would have triggered some sales for Rebellion's expanded and updated Battlezone game and benefitted both companies. Not sure what happened to Red Baron, though. Obviously the big one that's missing would be Atari's vector classic "Star Wars The Arcade Game" (1983) but licensed games rarely show up on compilations. Still, considering the rate at which the Star Wars license's value is tanking under Disney's ownership, maybe they'll be happy to earn a few bucks from it by licensing Star Wars The Arcade Game for Volume 2 :)
@Ferris1986
@Ferris1986 Жыл бұрын
@@blatherskite3009 Oh interesting. I had absolutely no idea that had happened. That is a very odd thing to sell off. I’m surprised they didn’t keep that trademark/IP especially now that they have been remaking their classic vector graphic games. It would’ve been a great candidate for the Recharged series. I agree with what you’ve said here about how they should’ve paid the royalty/licensing. I’m not at all surprised that Atari’s Star Wars arcade game isn’t included, as well as the Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom and Road Runner games. This is true that licensed games rarely show up. Maybe they can add some in volume 2 if that ever happens.

I'm 43 and i remember having the 2600 before i got my first Nes. I would stay up late playing pong, missle command and some game with little tanks that i forget the name of. It wasn't long before the Nes came out and my Atari just wasn't that thrilling anymore. I mean imagine going from stick figure graphics to Mario 3! Still there's charm in the old Atari stuff and i guess i gotta give Atari credit for basically creating the concept of home videogames. Atari created it and everyone else improved on it. When i saw the price of this at first i was like 40 bucks for a bunch of antiquated videogames? Hard pass! After watching your video review i may give it a try after all. If nothing else it'll be educational.

Remember that these are games that Atari developed. If you want other Atari classics like Pitfall or Rever Raid, you need to go with the Activision collection on the PS2.

I'm so ticked that they didn't do gauntlet legends in there... I would of pay for it.... sad... I want gauntlet legends and gauntlet dark legacy back and i want it for the pc... T_T those games are now lost forever and now is in high demand. hopefully Atari 50 gets a dlc for all gauntlet legends and other gauntlet stuff besides the one arrowhead made...

Nice attempt but I still want an all-inclusive collection. I don't mind if they split it up by region like North America, Japan, etc. but I want EVERYTHING released in a given region. Not just the ones they think are the most popular. Give me every game released for every Atari console. I actually don't even care about arcade games, they could make those a separate collection.
