Sooo damn cool man! I've done that, but never really thought about it that way or knew there was a name for it. It helps me understand so much more of what you did in Candiria.

Glad to know I’m not the only one who went and taught myself that eulogy 3/4 after I heard it. Really is a crazy cool sounding beat. Really good for independence.

It's one of Danny's trickiest beats. Took me a bit to learn it and I still fuck it up sometimes. The toughest DC beat is near the end of the song triad when he starts doing triplets on the bass drum with snare hits in-between each, while doing a totally different pattern on the ride. Not sure how else to explain it but I know tool VERY well and that's the only beat I haven't got down yet

As drummers we must be selfless. Ken is a perfect example of how to do that. He is technical yet simple in his approach. I can't overstate his abilities. He is, in my opinion THE MOST INNOVATIVE DRUMMER OF MY GENERATION. You can fight me over semantics. The dude's a fucking legend

wow ookay so i have been doin this naturally i play by ear have no schooling but i noticed Kens style bleed into my own because i started to to play drums shortly after discovering Candiria . i play guitar by ear as well only learned a few scales and built my cords from those so i play weird chords and people ask why i chose that chord and i said it chose me

Terribly underrated drummer. Also check out Steve Shelton's work (drummer of Confessor & Loincloth), another underrated drummer who has a very unique style and approach to drumming, a lot of that over the bar fills like Ken Schalk showed here.
