I would love this special to be about a old Wirt and Greg returning to the unknown reflecting on how they have grown since being there the last time - and I think stop-motion is a very good start for the scary aesthetics they are going for - and I generally can't believe that Flushed Away is CGI and not stop-motion

my first thought was “they’re re-animating the series”, but realistically i think it’s gonna be a lil animated music video! just because the announcement seems pretty low-key. i can’t be disappointed if i keep my expectations low 😭

Hadn't considered a music video! I could totally see Patrick McHale taking it that route (though I would love to see a full fleshed out special at least if I'm being honest haha - you're right though, low expectations are good)

I had no idea, that's so exciting ! I was just rewatching your reaction to OTGW yesterday haha. While Aardman isn't my favorite either (personal taste thing), I love stop motion and stop motion over the garden wall sounds amazing ! I hope it is indeed that. But we'll see ! I'm not usually excited for sequels and things like that either, I think it's better to give new stories a chance instead of redoing the same again and again but this actually sounds like it will have some creative new things put into it. I think the show works perfectly fine in itself but if this is just a short bonus episode kind of thing it could work

Considering November maybe it will be a Thanksgiving thing in stop motion. It's a Halloween story, but there are some images or aspects of "Over the Garden Wall" that have a Thanksgiving vibe. (The turkeys and Harvest festival in episode 2, I think, the reference to Pilgrims in the Dark Lantern, etc.) But I like the music video idea too. The gang just getting together to sing "Simple Gifts" or "We Gather Together" might be something. Also I know Halloween is linked to evil but it's really more about the dead. I think that's largely true in both pagan and Catholic customs. A good deal of Fundamental Protestantism decided both paganism and Catholicism are evil though so there's that.

I wonder if, because the news says “nov 3” if they’re going to make whatever this new project is more ‘thanksgiving’ themed since the original series has become a Halloween classic. So you can get all the autumn feelings, watch the original series throughout October/halloween and then follow it up with the sequel project for thanksgiving autumn goodness. (Maybe Christmas?? Probably not)

I became aware of OTGW back in 2020 and have been watching it every November (a day or so before Thanksgiving) since then. I absolutely love it, but I always wished I could have first watched it when it originally aired on CN. So if this turns out to be what it appears to be, November 3rd will DEFINITELY be a very exciting day for me!

I think you're right that it'll be a little short story rather than a continuation. I think it's possible that Wart and Greg won't be the main characters and instead it'll be one of the characters from the unknown

I think it's gonna be animated to look stop motion as 3d animation technology has created works that look almost too close to true stop motion. Take for instance Worthkids, who produce Captain Hajime. Which an animation style strongly resembles Rankin Bass christmas movies. WorthiKids is a huge fan of their works and really did his homework to get as close as he could

If you go to your browser there's actually a setting you can change to fix it! Same with streaming it to friends - i think it's the "hardware excelleration" setting but I don't quite remember offhand
