It's a really cool re-contextualization of his character. When I first watched this I assumed the way Wirt talked was just how everyone talked in that world, using flowery and verbose language sometimes, like an old fairytale or something but when we learn about how they're actually from a vaguely modern period of time, Wirt's language is shown instead to be explained by the fact that he's just a sucker for poetry and just kinda talks like that. Its a brilliant way to convince you that Wirt is part of this world by using his hobby to influence his language in a way that you don't really question why he talks like that.
