You make a very good point; Those older Toms are very wise! I got my first on opening day here in Maryland. The Tom only gobbled once!

sounds exactly what my dad told me when he first started taking me!! He always killed the biggest gobs around and everyone always wondered how!! He is so patient with them and after about 4 turkeys he put me on and I killed I realized he had mastered it in his own way! He studied movement patterns, roost, strut areas, etc. He sounded just like you man!! But he always told me to keep it to myself how we kill all those turkeys, lol!! Just like the tourneys we fish, don't tell anything!! Great vid, you remind me of my dad!!

mgt00656 and u reminded me of my dad, he's killed way over 100 turkeys and he tells me to just shut up and wait every time we go and he did the exact same thing with a 3 year old bird and after 3 hours of waiting he finally came in and I got him

Silence is key. But sometimes especially in the early season, most States don't get a early season but if you do your lucky. You can get away with a lot of calling

Good advice. Keep in mind also, if your on public land, you call and call and keep a turkey hung up and gobbling, your attracting and inviting the less than ethical to stalk the bird and try and get a shot at it, and then claim "I thought you were a hen."

I was hunting public land one year, and this sounds like a major lie but it's not! A guy came in and shot my decoy acually thinking it was a real turkey!
@scottiehowell75506 жыл бұрын
Turkey's are getting harder and harder each year to commit I had a big tom this morning run to me once he got to where he could see the decoys he posted up then skirted around me gobbling but didn't come in but the Jake that came in after him well he took a ride home with me he has hardly no spurs but a 7 inch beard but I love to eat wild turkey that's the 4th time this season the same ole boss tom has skirted me but gobbled the whole time oh and I found a shed this morning one side it probably scores 80 inches good but bad morning

Sometimes, you have to over call just to bring them in, just last week I had yelp aggressively for nearly 5 minutes straight, ended up sacking a year old jake and a 4 year old Tom that scored a 67. They wouldn’t leave the bush until I started calling a lot.

This is my first year for two things...a mouth call AND harvesting with a recurve. Any advice on either? I'm Not great with a mouth call, but trying.

Question, I use multiple mouth calls on a single stand to sound like multiple hens, do u do the same, or start off with a slate and mouth at the same time? U may have talked about it in a video but curious if u use this tactic
@artifactman6607 жыл бұрын
if a Tom will double or triple gobble to you he's a killable bird! shut up and let him come in. learned this a long time ago.
@Tylerules9011 жыл бұрын

I dont 100% believe in over calling to a turkey . If you listen to hens in the woods , they never shut up !! Yes, you have to be aware of how loud your calling but low toned clucking and purring aling with low toned yelping i dont think that would hurt your chances at all .
