I honestly feel bad about myself right now, I've been addicted to watching adult videos online for almost 2 years and everytime I've tried to stop it, i kept failing. This horrible habit has token a toll on me emotionally and psychologically as it distracted me from achieving my goals, it wasted my time and energy, my time to socialize with family and friends and has changed my perspective on women. I regret watching that first video all the way back in July or August of 2019 and i wish i had known of the consequences so that i could've avoided almost yrs of dealing with this addiction. I blame the internet and the media for all this. Starting today (on 2/25/2021), i will seek help from Jesus christ to clean my sins, by getting on my knees and confess to the lord that I've done things and seen things i wish didn't and help me in my times of need to change who i am on the outside and inside. I want to change, i want to meet real people, have a positive outlook on life, get a real relationship with someone who has a heart and soul, and may i find a purpose in my life, i need god to change who i am. "God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble. Submit yourselves, then, to god. Resist the devil and he will flee from you." James 4:6 and James 4:7.

Hmm, I don't think so. I'm currently in high school, and more often than not, I find my friends going out to play games like volleyball, basketball, football, etc. Moreover, people my age would look for a free period to go out to play basketball after school and stuff. Even if you don't have friends to play with, such as myself, we find other sports. For example, I know someone who doesn't talk much or does anything with anyone, but he does fencing. I'm not well liked in my class, in fact, when we have a team sport and we are asked to make teams, I am the last one picked. But then again, instead of staying at home like what the rest of the world thinks we do, I go ice skating and play volleyball by myself. Most other schools as well do the same, the only reason why people think the opposite is because we don't go out just to talk since all that is accessible online. Otherwise, we all rather go out with each other to have fun.

About 2 weeks ago I heard of a new season in stranger things but at that point in time I had never watched a single season in stranger things, I gave it a try and was obsessed, one night I stayed up 8 hours and did absolutely nothing but watch stranger things, I didn’t eat, I didn’t go to the bathroom I just sat there watching it. I slept that night for about less then 6 hours and I the first thing I did when I woke up is pick up my iPad and watched 2-3 more hours of stranger things before breakfast, I watched it after breakfast, I filled my music playlist with songs from stranger things. Yesterday I finished all available episodes from all seasons and now I feel sick. I tried watching another Netflix series but I can’t last even 10 minutes without getting bored, I’d watch random stranger things edits, watch cast interviews, watch funny moments, ships, memes and so on I even tried re-watching it even though I know it’s wrong because I’m addicted, it’s literally exam season and I’m crying over a Netflix series. I even tried watching videos on peoples negative opinions on stranger things like season 4 being full of sin, but it’s like nothing helps.

It’s a hard thing, but it will make me better, and if I can work on myself, it will have a positive domino effect. I’m sorry that this got personal, but I want to help other people feel better about helping them selfs, with the society’s unhealthy vision of selflessness (well, at least to me because I’ve always been told to give yourself to others and try to hard to live up to it, and it has caused many unhealthy friendships where they just put everything on me and emotionally blackmailed me) No need to like, please just help yourself and that will mean even more to me than online validation. -Meghan

Instead, train your mind to have a greater level of discipline which Is a skill you can use throughout your life. The only way to solve this problem is to deep dive into your own mind. The only catch is that you have to be completely honest with yourself in order to change. Don't just look at the addiction look at what might be causing you to be addicted. Sometimes the truth hurts but you can recover from it. There will definitely be better days ahead and you'll only regret the scars later, so keep ya head up! Thank you for sharing! I think this is a much better video for people with process addictions (addictions to activities and behaviors) than for people like us, with serious addictions to drugs. I am now in long term recovery, but was on hard and opiates for a long time, and didn’t think I’d ever be able to quit. I went to 5 treatments and the 5th was the charm but, at that point it was only because I was court ordered. I thought there was no chance. That treatment ended up having an excellent counselor who accepted and loved all of us, until we could do the same for ourselves. I went back to school and started taking classes on the psychology and neurobiology of Addictions, in an online college program. There, I learned all the things I needed to not forgive myself, because it’s not even about doing anything wrong. I strongly recommend “Biology of Desire,” by Marc Lewis, and “In the Realm of Hungry Ghosts,” by Gabor Mate. Both have talks on YT, but their books (avail. on Audible) are much better. I hope you find something that works for you. Idk if you’re in the US but, if so, the way they’re cutting everything with fentanyl now is so scary. I quit just when people started dying around me. I was very lucky. Keep your head up, my man, and never give up!

If you have an addiction and you hang out with people that always talk about the substance/activity because they do it too you need to wake tf up and ditch those people with no remorse Ditch them like enemies. Stop hanging out with losers They are losers because they hung out with losers before and that’s how they became losers Don’t become a loser It’s never too late. Same with music, if the music you listen to always talks about that thing like it’s a good thing you need to grow some balls and learn to listen to something else with better, cleaner lyrics. Even the instrumentals themselves can trigger a thought/emotion Frick off from all that bs no matter how much you like those people/music/entertainment It’s useless bull to your well-being Hang out with winners People with good health Successful people (whatever that means to you) Financially well people People that achieve their goals Listen to music that isn’t about clubbing/parties/drugs/alcohol Stop making stupid drug/alcohol jokes that are only funny to you. Trust me, nobody is ACTUALLY finding it funny. Get away from all the bs Even if it involves family

meditate often whenever you can, it will help build up your brain’s willpower and also your mindfulness so you can see yourself being tempted and stop yourself from giving in. your parents might not be helpful in this case.

Ive replayed from 3:34 to 5:48 Nine or 10 times now over the past 40 minutes while ruminating your solution... The addiction i struggle to defeat.. or at the very least moderate responsibly is Cocaine use. i use intermittently the past couple years goin in between 2 - 6 weeks clean at a time, but even still, my overindulging has become more than ever before, terribly detrimental in all aspects of my life. my body's health, my already damaged! mental health, my relationships, career, and arguably worst of all financially im in real trouble to the point im falling deeper and deeper in debt just by wasting only around 1/3 my income every month. I regret to consider your solution alone may not be enough due to the seemingly automated impulse which to my shame, ignore all prior resistance and confidence, all the while aware and disappointed in failing to resist without hesitation ... I dont know how to fight back anymore, or how to even find the right help, im all alone.
@heretic44053 жыл бұрын
since you act so impulsively, you should meditate often to increase your willpower and mindfulness so that the above strategy is more effective and also you should find a community centre that can find people to support you in overcoming your addiction. until you can somewhat effectively use the mindfulness strategy, run in the opposite direction of anything that might tempt you. i.e. people, places
