Alcohol is not a joke. If you have ever been there you will know it is the most clever (and devious) human invention after the aeroplane.

28 days is nowhere near long enough to break a habit 😞

Absolutely, the time period should be as long as it takes for each individual. Most need a transition home & MAP to keep sobriety.

🚨 When the health insurance cuts off so does treatment. It’s a business, just like everything else 😢

Fantastic documentary. When friends want you stay addicted, they are clearly not real friends , just drinking buddies. In my old group of friends, here's a lot of resistance to people who don't drink or take drugs, but none of them would ever see themselves as candidates for rehab. Even when people have experienced illnesses as a result of indulging, they refuse to acknowledge it. Bizarre.

2017 Gran Mal Seisure from alcohol withdrawal. 10 days in hospital than 30 days inpatient in a Rehab. Toughest thing in my life was to clean the up myself and stay that way.

You were never supposed to be on diazepam for that long!! For alcohol withdrawal you should have been on diazepam for a week taper period. 7-10 days. 14 days tops per extreme cases. I have seen people who were having trouble with seizures go on a little longer but even then it should be 30 days tapered off slowly and making sure they are looking at other none benzodiazepine meds if seizures are still ongoing. Diazepam is a very effective medication for seizures for certain people, never should be a long term solution for a patient who is suffering from alcoholism or addiction. The problem is that too many doctors don’t follow correct medication protocols, especially when it comes to benzodiazepine medication. Also on the flip side of things the patients need to be very proactive about their medication and treatment options. This means that the patient needs to be educated on what medication they are taking. Just because a doctor say’s you should take it and will keep giving it to you doesn’t mean you should just do it without cation and education about the medication and what long term effects could look like for you and your body.

You can find addicts with half of the DSM-V diagnosed, addiction comes as a maladaptative coping mechanism for the other conditions and situations a person is living with and causing the emotional imbalance or distress.
