I really thought I was the only one who obsessed over existence and panicked over consciousness.

Just hearing and knowing others feel the same way makes me feel less- alone.

100% accurate and great advice. Your mind tries to make sense of what the body is doing, so it grabs on to whatever it can in moments of anxiety. It takes practice to observe the thoughts and not go down the rabbit hole. They are just thoughts like anything else, and it's perfectly normal to wonder these things. Don't get upset if you have these thoughts...it's normal and ok and nothing is wrong with you, and they aren't dangerous. You are not in danger. Sure, the world is scary sometimes, but it is also awe inspiring, and an endless well of inspiration. Enjoy the ride. You can't think your way through figuring out the universe, so spend less time thinking and more time doing.

This was great. I think about this everyday and I feel stucked in the process. I think about my brain, consciousness, WHAT and why are we and what if I go crazy from theese thoughts.

This really hits the nail on the head for me, especially the "this must mean.." bit, which is the part that gives me the most anxiety without doubt. Because for me it usually comes down to "that must mean the universe and existence is all fake". Doesn't make life very fun when you truly believe everything you know and will ever know is fake...

I agree. It’s not always easy, but to be open to the possibility that existential OCD may never get you the answers you’re looking for shows you’re resisting it to some extent, which is a morale boost.

It is wanting control over the unknown that gives me anxiety.

you made me laugh after a very long time, thank you for that ❤and yes, I can still go to the grocery store and not know how universe works and how it was formed, I guess some of us we just should not supposse to know, and it's OKAY to feel like an alien sometime

I would love to hear about anxiety over death or thanatophobia. It's really disturrbing and there's very little information about a good treatment to overcome it. I tried this aproach for a couple of days, but it came back after practicing for 15 minutes and it didn't go away. It's a horrible sensation. I'm open to any kind of tip or advice.

I’ve been struggling with this which lead me to the existential anxiety and I can’t just sit with it sometimes. It makes me so uncomfortable in my own skin.

Is there anyone that has underlying anxiety that drives them into deep dives into theology? I'm a Christian and I don't know what I believe in certain things, deconstructing I guess, so it's been overwhelming me to the point of insomnia
