Thank you so much! I used to go gym but it stopped me because I was afraid of people’s judgement and not knowing how to use the machines! With your advice I will try to overcome it!

Skip the big weights go to the Crossfit area of the gym. Perfect balance of cardio & weights. The more women that claim their right to workout the better for sports & health.

I was going to the gym with somebody else and now we're no longer going at the same time. It's a small gym with a super dedicated couple running it. They have a weight list and I feel like I'm taking up space. Plus I work full time and take ballet...and I'm not sure how to balance gym dance and sleep. I have seen a few videos but even planning sessions is hard for me. I don't want to be a quitter but I've been dealing with a lot of stress too and have trouble balancing other things in life as well. I'm thinking about quitting my gym membership so I don't feel guilty for being inconsistent with my training. I have tried non peak hours and bringing music. The last time I was there with my friend we did leg day and that was a great workout...but I haven't been in 2 weeks since then. Do you think quitting the gym is a good choice for me? I don't want to quit fitness, just my membership. My friend says I shouldn't, and I am afraid to ask a lot of people for their opinions. I might ask one of my dance teacher buddies as well.

Thanks for reaching out 🙂 It seems like you have a very busy schedule, and I know how overwhelming that can get at times. For starters, if you are paying a monthly membership, you aren't wasting space at the gym - even if you only go occasionally, so don't put any unnecessary additional guilt on yourself. That's the last thing you need! Whether it's a good decision for you to quit the gym depends on the benefits you get from it - do you enjoy going to the gym even if it's not as often as you'd like? Do you feel good when you leave the gym, knowing that you managed to make time for it? Is it making you feel more confident in your body and your abilities? If you enjoyed your last workout with your friend doing leg day, it sounds like you do enjoy it. If so, don't beat yourself up about going inconsistently! Maybe it just means you need to be more realistic about how many times you can go per month, and consider your ballet schedule alongside it. If you set yourself more realistic goals, you will enjoy your gym sessions a whole lot more, and you won't feel guilty about not going more regularly! I hope this helps 🙂

Thank you. This really helps put things in perspective. It also helps that you have a fitness channel...sometimes it's hard being new to stuff like this. I am going to try and set better goals for myself and **takes a deep breath** try sticking with the gym and see if things work with a better schedule and stuff like that. I feel bad about quitting due to stress and guilt. I would rather step away intentionally due to what's best for me. Another friend gave me similar feedback about not feeling guilt and weighing the benefits. The dance teacher I mentioned is starting a dancer/fitness class at our studio which I want to try and drop in to learn some balance from. Again, thanks. :)

No problem at all, that's great! Good luck with the new scheduling. Good for you for deciding to give the gym another chance, I hope the class with your dance teacher will be helpful 🙂💪
