I've had your book Being Happy for over 40 years and it's still charming and wise as ever. I just ordered a copy for a friend of mine who is a therapist. Good stuff! Thank you!

A story to explain constraints and limitations: In 1960 two men made a $50 bet. One of the men was Bennett Cerf, the founder of the Random House Publishing firm. The other man was Theo Geisel, aka Dr. Seuss, author and illustrator of children’s’ books. Mr. Cerf wagered that his friend could not write an entertaining children’s book using only 50 words. Dr. Seuss took the bet and won the $50 with the publication of Green Eggs and Ham, which has sold several million books making his book the best-selling children’s book in history. What is the lesson that Dr. Seuss learned and what is the lesson that we can learn by the power of having limitations and constraints? Dr. Seuss found that setting limits or boundaries was so useful that he used the same limitations with his other books such as The Cat in the Hat, which only used a first-grade vocabulary. We may find that constraints may be beneficial in our work and in our lives as well. Perhaps there is a little kangaroo in all of us....even if we don't live in Australia!
