It does redefine complements and criticism. However, I'm thankful now for the wisdom I learned from the narcissit trap. False safety. I'm sad it was all fake, all of it! But thankful now I know the truth. I see it clearly and quickly. As it is written, speaking about those who offer platitudes. Steer clear! I feel it with EVERY fiber of my soul. When I first began learning about narcissism, courtesy of my covert narcissist mother, what I hadn’t realized is how frequently I’d meet more. They became like spring-loaded plates, in a cafeteria. And, yes. Now, when I look back in those compliments, I see how they soured into using, jealousy, back-handed compliments and, discard. I was only fortunate in that, once I realized a discard was happening, I was on board with it, early on, and was discarding them, too. One, that I still have in my life, who found new supply? They have no idea that, when I see them palling around with that new supply, me feeling is, “OMG please take them. Thank you!”

Fortunately, it’s possible that someone above them, may have caught onto this. Don’t know how it’ll turn out though. But, they asked if I’d like to relocate. I don’t know if that’s a genetically question. But, I no longer have ties here.

It's astounding how these people operate. After my 1st Narc, I was very wary of compliments and frequently noticed my new GF using similar tactics to break my barriers down. I talked to friends about it and broke up with her after only 3 months. However, she was brilliant. She hoovered me right back in, saying she would be, say or do whatever it took to make it work since we were obviously made for each other. Then it continued as before. 2.5 years later, she said we can't have sex anymore because of her menopause. I agreed to stand by her and be patient and loving the whole of the last 3 years. That's 6 years in total that we were together. I just found out she's Engaged to another man and has been seeing him a long time. She also met up with men 3 years ago and (while she never admitted to sleeping with anyone) I'm sure she did. No woman goes off for trips sleeping in the same bed with a new man without anything happening unless they are just really good at manipulating him into a free trip in which he gets nothing. Even I wouldn't have fallen for that from a new woman I just met! Her sister told me she's had 4-5 guys that she knows about and is already cheating on the Fiance. I was jealous and angry at first. Then I realised how screwed she is. The new relationship is fragile, she doesn't even seem to like or fancy him in the slightest. She tried to get me to agree to a sexless marriage a few days ago saying I was the only love of her life. When I said no, we went back to fighting and her ridiculous accusations. Never at any point has she accepted that I had a right to know what she had been doing with other men. Never too responsibility for anything. It was all somehow either my fault or her sister's fault for letting the truth get out. She will implode. Soon. Without me, her sister, her family and the new guy, she will have no-one to feed off. And she's not in good health at all. I'm not jealous of that. I'm glad to be out of it!

Even when your given a compliment think about it it's a reasonable compliment. And listen to the squeak or high pitch at the end of the lie. How long have they known you do they know you??? What have they seen from you?. Firm hand shake or a soft handshake?
