As much as I love all the new personalities, these videos make me sad. I forget how many more pieces off wisdom we used to get from Dave. Now it's like "whats the question, here's the answer, next caller" But back then, he used to give 15 minute + mini speeches and THOSE are what really changed my life. I'm so lucky that when I started listening in highschool and college, I got THAT version of the DAVE Ramsey show... the Ramsey show is fine, but just not the same.

Thing is there's nothing to negotiate. She can say "I'm only contributing this and you guys can decide to cover the rest of not" but her siblings have absolutely no obligation to take care of their parents who sound very irresponsible. Sounds like the parents need to move back to their owned property and either brother moves or stays in exchange for helping them as needed.
@iMoon-j2nАй бұрын
Also let's not assume she has any negotiating power within her family only because she made up her mind. family is a delecate situation, and other cultures are way less individualistic than the us, some places is simply no concept of "me first" and one can't just force it. it might take some time.i also wonder about the others situation. if they live in a difficult situation themselves, which we don't know, they might look at big shot sister who went to America and maybe rightfully question why they have to support the parents purchase over there? we don't know, but i think it's too quick too assume that she could change the family dynamic and maybe whether she should. if anything, maybe the parents need to make some decisions to not ruin their daughter, if they're still able to. we don't know about their health or mental capacity at this point. also, if she is in the will inheriting the us house then maybe it's fair within family context? i don't know, just wanted to throw some other perspectives in the mix 😅

You can write to the hospital and ask for a lower bill or forgiveness when you show you are not making much. At least I had that option in Washington State. Made too much but was able to get the application/option.

That 6 kids at 24 call always shocks me as if it's the first time I'm hearing it. I want to know more. Why, where was the dad, whats her relationship with him.

Different Dad every kid. The thing I'm most concerned about is not making a debt payment in 5 years causing that 60k principle to keep growing. This is a trainwreck that keeps taking. If I was in her shoes I know how to make that 60k go away in less than 10 years, but mentally 6 kids would destroy me.

I believe the commenter was talking about the girls own father. Where was he in all these screwups? Also the 6 kids are all in foster care, nothing to wreck her mine about!😮

Did that young truck driver say he earns $15000 a year for a forty hour work week? How is that even legal to pay an adult so little? 🤦♂️

Reach out to a Ramsey trusted financial advisor. Calling the show is difficult and won't give you real detailed info

It is so hard for me to hear these stories. I guess I was just born to not buy crap I couldn't afford. I just don't understand why people get into this kind of debt. Dave is so patient. My folks lived paycheck to paycheck but paid their bills and always had car loans. My brother and I somehow just naturally are frugal and savers by nature.

The discouragement, shame, and embarassment is ther hardest part. And a lot of the time it isn't even on us. Like the mom that paid no child support and does nothing.

@edwinroyal97349 ай бұрын
@amireallythatgrumpy6508 lol, yeah I figured that. I guess I'm too young to know what housing costs were back when I was in high-school. I just want some hope that I can afford to buy a house by the time I'm 30 or so.

To the dad calling about his 24 year old daughter. He needs to take some of the blame here. He doesn’t know the exact number of children she has?!?!? About 6?!?! He is worried about her 60k in medical bills but didn’t teach her anything about finance?!?! Nice job parenting…

Why isnt he welding, they making good money
@l.r.s.45809 ай бұрын
He should consider relocating if there aren't welding jobs. I live a state over from SD and we are desperate for welders. My brother is making like 28-30 an hour welding. They offer hire on bonuses too.
@Hokieman-ol7qh9 ай бұрын
Seriously, making $7/hr driving a truck could be making 4x that as a welder… there’s the easy answer. Yet for some reason the poor kid thinks his company is doing him favors.
@joshuagoodey5789 ай бұрын
Exactly. There was a small town business that welded and built cattle guards and fences. They were were paying more than enough to cover a 3 bedroom house and living expenses in town
