I had been struggling with sexual sin my entire life almost. Things such as pornography, masturbation , and premarital sex was consuming me and I felt controlled and drained by my sexual impulses constantly. Every time I tried to break the cycle I would fall back into it again. But then I found Jesus and he has freed me. I am no longer a slave to my sexual pleasure. This is not to say I do have have the impulses still but with the strength and love of Jesus everything is possible. I use to be a Christian but i fell into sin again and for months i sinned against God, i got drunk,high i cursed, i talked bad about others, but yesterday i smoked some weed and had a huge panic attack, went to a hospital, thought i was gonna die, but then today i was afraid of death and of hell, i fell to my knees asked God for forgivness but it didn't work cause i didn't do it wholeheartedly, but after some time passed after watching one of this guys videos i came back crying out to God telling him that i Believe in him and his sacrifice for us and now am no longer afraif of death even tho 30 mins earlier i was. That you are being tempted. What I do is kneel on your knees and starty praying to God that you are being tempted and are scared and God make those thoughts free from you. I have found that in my struggle against sexual sin, usually the greater / underlying struggle is against apathy and desire to escape my problems (this is also linked to the struggle with intrusive thoughts and living in my own head / daydreaming). After over a decade of fighting it (not all of that in the church) I largely know what I need to do, but thats different to actually doing it, staying disciplined day to day, hour by hour struggling to not just give up and open the "submarine hatch"

I struggle with this so much it tempts me towards despair, As you mentioned, it leads to other bad actions. Oftentimes I'll find myself overindulging myself in booze to distract from bad thoughts only to be thrown back into the arms of the thoughts that spurred them on in the first place. something that helped me a lot in fighting the sexual sins is incredibly something very simple and that you may even think it has nothing to do but actually is a great thing that is just cleaning my room. well the correlation is very simple, a chaotic place leads to chaotic thoughts and it makes way more diffucult to control these thougs, but in counterpart a ordered place makes the exact opposite, it gives harmony to your mind making you have more control of yourself.

Father Spyridon thank you for this message. I have been struggling with this very sin for a while now. I made myself a promise to remain chaste for the first 6 months of this year. I have found that so far even though I am struggling, it has helped clear my mind and allowed myself to be one step closer to God. For many years I turned my back on God, I went as far as to claim to be atheist, but recently I have found myself coming back to him and even praying again. And through this prayer I can feel the pain of my sins weighing on me, pushing me closer to God, pushing me to repent. This year is the first year I have taken part in Lent in a very long time, I decided to put down alcohol and tobacco. And although the temptation persists, I maintain myself control and refuse to break my promise. I am a simple man and a sinner, and I acknowledge that.

I usually suppress my lust not because religion, but because I hate sex and I find it disgusting, yet my intrusive thoughts are stronger. Today, I've been struggling a lot and this video exactly popped up when needed. I've never looked for advice on the internet or talked about it. A sign? I'm starting to believe God is guiding me

I can say generally you are better off without sex. And I suppose one could call it "disgusting". So you have the urge but have a phobia of the act? Interesting. Don't worry it gets easier as you get older. It just doesn't matter so much. I am convinced that 80% of the reason people chase after sex so much is that they are taught by society that they are supposed to, that it is weird not to, that conquests increase your status, that is is the most enjoyable thing in the world. But it just isn't. You are right, it is just sordid and dirty. Literally dirty. The exception would be affection between two married people. In that state you share everything, you are one. So it can't be disgusting.

It is a very difficult fight. What helps me is simply the thought that this isn’t good for me and that it wastes my potential as a human being and that life is very fulfilling when lived virtuously. Prayer and improving habits and the sacraments and church attendance all aid in this.

My dear father, and brothers. I beg you, pray for my soul. My heart is stained grievously by sexual sin, and through pornography my mind is tainted. I wish for advice for my course of action, for this struggle hath endured for such a long time, and I am quite tired of this struggle. I feel that I am poisoned to the point that I cannot recover, and that life is a curse, for my redemption seems almost unattainable. I wish for victory once more, that I may see myself as valuable again. I pray you once more, pray for me.

This may not be patented advice, but I was in the same boat several years ago. I'd fornicated much and watched a lifetime's worth of pornography. It wasn't until I prayed consistently for around a months time, joined in prayer by my wife (who had the same affliction as me), that a breakthrough happened. Around the same time, me and my wife both realized that our sexual sins where our own, and no one else's. This sounds silly, but it brought us great healing. In acknowledging our sins as our own, we shed the mantle of "I wouldn't sin if X person didn't make me." If I succumb to lust (Lord forbid), no longer do I allow myself to say "Well, that woman was dressed scantily, so its partly her fault". It's really not her fault. She may bear her own sin, but my sin is my own. This revelation helped me to quit sexualizing women, simply for existing. God made beautiful women too, and He certainly didn't do it to inspire lust in us. Therefore, what had to change was me -- not them. If I couldn't so much be around a beautiful women with suffering temptation, it was I who was out of line, not them. Beautiful women exist too, and they're existence isn't sinful. We cannot allow ourselves to "share blame" with our temptations and lusts. We must bear them ourselves, before God. This concept of "my lusts are partially her sin too" was taught to me in Church, and reinforced throughout my life -- but I find it to be an erroneous teaching now. Once I, by the grace of God, deferred that thinking to "my lust are my own sins", they became much more manageable -- because no longer did everything in the world around me have to change, only I had to change. I'm unsure if this is helpful, but I will pray for you. May God have mercy on us. If I am in error in my current thinking, may God have mercy on me. Disclaimer: I certainly struggle with the concept that maybe I am wrong on this topic, because my thoughts on it are so far removed from mainline Christian opinions. And it almost feels "too easy" to resist lust, now that I've had this revelation. Which gives me an unsettling feeling. That being said; id much rather wrestle with my own philosophy and theology than wrestle with lust. God guide me, I pray.

In my case, it didn't matter if I was married or had a healthy marital relationship with my wife; I had been conditioned by 15+ years of pornography to view people as sexual objects. When you view people as inherently sexual, whether its their intentions to portray that or not, I find that you already have one foot over the "line" of lust.

I recently had realized just how much inroads thoughts of lust had made into my mind and how much they were negatively affecting my mind and heart. I prayed for forgiveness and gave those thoughts to God. My mind and heart felt so much cleaner, I no longer felt deep rooted and unsettling shame at living at odds with what I should be as a christian. Young men throw away your shackles of porn and lustful thoughts, find refuge in Gods love and forgiveness. Be transformed. Thank you for your message, we don't hear enough of this in our loud and sinful culture.

I struggle with this as well, I’ll go as long as a few months, and get tempted again. I meet with random women and feel very empty/ guilty, and sad afterwards, no real connection. I pray and ask the lord to free me from this.

@@Tjikkko if that’s the case, then try enjoy being with yourself a lot more, go to the gym, find ways to get more money, take care of yourself more, get weekly haircuts, pray to God everyday, just make yourself a overall better person and you’ll feel a lot better, a women should just be an addition to your life not a necessity. You should be okay with being happy being alone first. Look into semen retention as well.

I have struggled with addiction for many years, and only in the past year have I finally started listening to the Spirits grief. Now everyday is a battle, and the Lord is winning. I now very seldom succumb to my addiction with pornography. Yet I struggle with something far more difficult, I do not desire my wife’s body the way I want to. She is a bit overweight, but that isn’t a major problem. My perspective, my view of her has been skewed by years of secretly sinning, it has warped my mind. I have to trust in the Lord and pray that someday, I will take my bride the way God intended.
