Basically, to follow the Hamashiach is to be as the Borg. Lifeless, dull, and subject to the control of the hive mind. Perhaps if Yah and his son wanted mindless, dependent zombies they should have created them as such from the beginning.

I work at a very popular grocery store, customers and coworkers are very secular/ worldly and it’s even encouraged by management. Hard work is no longer valued it’s more about the acceptance and supporting this culture..After 7 years there I’m considering leaving over this because it’s overwhelming but I’m trying to stand my ground with my beliefs and power through the constant persecution and disrespect daily. My preacher told me to stick with it and outlast it.

Cigarettes, on the other hand, which kill SEVERAL HUNDRED THOUSAND in the U.S. alone every year, is "compatible" with Christianity, I take it. You are aware, of course, that Marijuana has proven to be incalculably beneficial to terminally ill and chronically ill people?

I've researched this many times. I was a STONER from the ages of 15-25, before I became Roman Catholic. I'm not trying to start a debate about Catholicism vs Orthodoxy. Both uphold the importance of the sacraments instituted by Christ so we are amazing brothers imo. I am having a hard time reconciling drinking a few beers in the evening after work with my family or out with friends. Clearly, Jesus did not have an inherent problem with alcohol. Furthermore it is known that he drank a considerable amount, although never getting drunk or losing his sense of reasoning as this would result in sin, but it was to the extent that the pharisees accused him of being a drunk because of his witnessed drinking. Just think "was Jesus ok with acohol?" and think of his first miracle at Cana... How is it ok to drink in moderation, but not smoke in moderation? To be clear, I DO NOT smoke weed anymore. I have done it since I was baptized but always felt that it was wrong and it reminded me too much of my worldly atheist mentality before I asked God and Jesus to save me (I was deep into drug addiction and on my way to prison). With that being said, I would not smoke now to "get high" and I do not drink now "to get drunk". However, I do drink to feel some of the effects of alcohol. I would only ever see a substance as ok to use if it was not abused and did not violate my will, for example, giving into a compulsive desire that I could not resist and therefore is an addiction. Like I said, I've researched this A LOT and every time the question comes up or is posed to me, I cannot remember the lessons or literature that I have literally spent dozens of hours researching. I do not agree with getting high, and I tell my friends that they shouldn't, but I also tell them it's not ok to do any substance compulsively and I think recreational activities in life should be done only with the intent and the RESULT of celebrating the eternal gift of life God has given to us in a holy way. I often find myself very very thankful for God after putting in a hard days work, spending time with my family, praying throughout the day as much as possible, living a healthy lifestyle, AND enjoying alcohol in moderation. Side note-I have come to the conclusion that "moderately" using cannabis would not be smoking a joint. Drinking a beer is nothing compared to smoking a joint to most people. If I drink a beer tonight, I will barely notice anything. If I smoke a joint, or even one large hit of weed, I'll be high into tomorrow and it will be very strong imo.

I have used cannabis for my chronic pain and ptsd and it has really helped. I would think that using it for medical use and as intended by the doctor would be just like any other medication. What are your thoughts on this type of use?

I am usually a heavy smoker, helps a lot with my anxiety, sleep, and I’m a lifelong carpenter I’ve worked through breaks sprains, and severe concrete burns (my skin melts from it) and, I also just like getting stoned. But, it’s a medicine, certainly such thing too much of a good thing. I take periodic breaks for tolerance and to just reset. I had to quit recently for work, it has been nice but I look forward to my bones (and shoulder!) aching less when I can smoke again.

You should be more clear that you are referring to THC, which is the psychoactive component of Cannabis. CBD and its molecular variants have many medicinal healing properties. Your current argument is similar to saying all intercourse is bad, but what you really mean is intercourse outside of marriage is bad.

I believe using sacred plants to connect with god works very well but once you abuse these plants , you lose that spiritual religious use for the plant and it becomes just a recreational thing that will numb you instead of make you feel more like at the beginning when you dont abuse it yet
@d0sxxgaming9415 сағат бұрын
Without your imagination you could not believe in religion. If sobriety was the legitimate way to spiritual awakening, why have i heard jesus turned water into wine and not wine into water. Altering the mind and meditating to connect with god is a way to feel what you feel for god with a different frequency and vibe. Theres nothing bad about always being sober and connecting with god but theres also nothing bad with people getting high and connecting with god. To be realistic with you i believe the person that got high to connect with god can be able to tap into a stronger religious experience that will make them believe more because of the feelings you get while being high that you dont get when your sober
@d0sxxgaming9415 сағат бұрын
Also if someone wants to get high and connect with god, why not admire and respect that? At least their doing something with their spiritually unlike many people who have spent 1000s of hours reading comments on social media and never even tried reading a passage from a bible. All im saying is respect and love someone who gets high and follows your religion still. Its better than them just getting high and watching netflix while eating a bunch of their favorite snacks. At least this way you have more people to Believe in what you imagine

Being addicted on and off for 8 years, I assure you this is 100% true. Just 1 week relapse into weed - and all my spiritual progress is gone. I am born Orthodox but also practice a Hindu Path. And I assure you - even 1 round of smoking gets you completely unable to meditate, vanishes your desire to seek God through prayer also. I literally feel dark fog in me through which the Divine can’t penetrate and it’s really hard to reestablish that connection with God. Whatever is your Path, if you take spirituality seriously and not recreationally - you got to quit, one way or another. This is the truth I’ve learned the hard way. And yall understand this when yall really proceed forward with your spiritual practice and become more sensitive, I guarantee you.

Fr. Spyridon.... thank you for your many teachings. I was raised protestant, my fiancee is catholic, but i am now exploring orthodoxy. It was not until i heard your teachings that I was able to quit marijuana. Your teaching "Cannabis and Christianity" helped me so many times when I felt the temptation. Praise God Almighty, i am back to being myself. He had been calling me out of it for many months, but the addiction was so strong. As soon as i quit (even taking edibles) i was forced to confront the reality of my spiritual condition. And in this time of exploring your orthodox teachings, i had never known Gods forgiveness, love, and grace like I know now.

I truly believe that marijuana is an elevator for your emotions. I’ve gone through and read loads of the comments on this video and the thing that immediately springs to my attention is that many of you turn to weed while you’re already at your lowest. Your relationship with weed is only as good as your relationship with yourself, your loved ones, and with god. I started smoking this year medically for my Crohn’s disease. It truly eases my days and allows me to find inner peace even in days where I’m in very bad condition. My wife is a wonderful, loving caring woman who works in mental health and addiction who loves and cares for me unconditionally. God has sent me an angel. She taught me to pray, to love someone in a way that I was never loved growing up. Our 8th anniversary has just passed, and my 6th anniversary since I truly accepted god into my life. I am expecting my first child this year. God is great, and while sometimes it may not seem like it, ALL of his creations are great.

Brother, I think you misunderstand Protestants. Do not confuse the doctrine on Sanctification with Purification. Protestants do believe these things. We simply believe Christ's blood reunites us, and the walk of purification is then taken, the narrow road. As to "many." If you look at the total number of Christians, which I believe from a worldly view includes all Catholics, for some are indeed believers, it is about 1/4th the world's population. So, indeed, there are few since God desires all of mankind to be saved.
