Thanks for taking the time to let us know of your progress, its wonderful to hear you are enjoying our efforts, and ESPECIALLY to hear that our plants are doing well for you. As you can probably see, we work very hard to deliver the BEST PERFORMING selections in the HIGHEST QUALITY and FRESHEST condition to our partnering garden centers: grownbyoverdevest.com/retail-locator/ So it is really great to hear that you are finding this working out well for you. David has been gardening, growing and talking about plants virtually all his life (in fact, ever since he was a boy), and the nice thing (as you've discovered) is that once our videos are posted, you can revisit them as often as you like for reminders and recaps. They are an important resource, and it is nice to learn that they are hopefully, helping you with researching information, providing inspiration and providing practical (down to earth) know how too. Presumably you have already subscribed to our channel? If you haven't, you might like to think about it, because once you are subscribed, each time we post a new video (which we are doing all the time), you will find that they will turn up automatically in your feed. And, as you find them helpful, it would be great if you could kindly share the links with your friends and click the "like" button too, because that helps other people find out about the information as well. And, now that we are in the midst of the BEST planting season (Fall), we would like to encourage you to visit our partnering garden centers: grownbyoverdevest.com/retail-locator/. They are located all over our Mid-Atlantic and Northeastern region, and that's where you will find all sorts of beautiful, tried and true and cutting edge, top performing selections, so be sure to stop in regularly throughout the seasons because there will usually be a steady stream of fresh shipments coming in regularly.

I abolutely agee Edge of Night is stunning. I couldnt find it locally when it first came out a few years ago so i ordered it online. I planted it in a quart size and it is now its third season and it is beautiful. I saw another non branded variety online Watermelon Ruffles and I was so excited to come across it locally. I get so much enjoyment from these and my neighbors do as well.

Good luck with your quest to acquire some more of these lovely, hardy and easy to grow perennials. That's one of the nice things about shopping at family owned garden centers: grownbyoverdevest.com/retail-locator/, as well as having cutting edge varieties, and superb, top notch quality plants that are usually freshly delivered. Many of them are smaller "Mom & Pop" type places that are nimble and responsive to customer requests. So when you visit, if they don't actually have any of a particular variety in stock, they are often willing to consider getting some in for you. Have you subscribed to our channel? That's great to hear. They are indeed, really beautiful, and it is great that you are able to grow your own seedlings, that's fun. However, just bear in mind that the plants we feature are produced from many hundreds of thousands of seedlings, and they represent the very BEST of the BEST! So, if your garden space gets limited and you want to have the best that some of the world's top professional breeders are producing, then they might be worth considering. also, have you subscribed to our channel yet? That's great to hear, well done. The tropical, exotic look is something we like about them too. And, it is wonderful to hear that you are enjoying good success with "our babies" and finding good appreciative homes for them. Visiting the Garden Centers: grownbyoverdevest.com/retail-locator/ regularly during the season is a great way to get ideas and inspiration, especially since we put a lot of effort into delivering them when they are coming up to their peak. We are not sure that the owners of these places would entirely agree (because sometimes it means disrupting the layouts and displays) but having the plants right there, is great way to compare and try out combinations before buying them. Thanks for watching and taking the trouble to post these kind comments. Presumably you have already subscribed to our channel! I save and review videos when I'm planning my garden and looking for specific info about the plant
@OverdevestNurseries
@OverdevestNurseries 3 ай бұрын
That's a good plan. We often hear about viewers re-visiting our videos.... And that works well, because sometimes when you watch them a second, third (or sometimes even more than that), you pick up information or details that may not have been apparent first time around. 😜 Some of our viewers tell us that they save the URLs (web page address) too, so that (like you) they can reference them later or share the information with friends as well. That's the really nice thing about information rich videos...., you can re-watch them as often as you like. That's partly why David tries to pack in plenty of information. To some people our videos might appear to be too long in duration, and if so, he knows you just watch as much (or as little) as you want. But of course, they can be watched (and re-watched) in portions, so that eventually the information is extracted. You might also find, searching our website: grownbyoverdevest.com/plant-search/ helpful too. As you will see, you can search by: Genus (in this case Hibiscus), Plant types Collection (Brands, New items, Pollinator plants etc.) Exposure (Sun, Shade, Partial shade etc.) Season (Spring, Summer, Winter, Year round etc.) Plant Habit ( Climbers, Upright, Spreading, Weeping etc.) Benefits and Features - this might be your most valuable tool, because that helps you find specific things that might apply to your site. All of these things will help you research and investigate potential plants and provide ideas. But of course, there's nothing like seeing the plants in reality! So that's why our partnering garden centers: grownbyoverdevest.com/retail-locator/ put so much effort into getting in our plants when they are in their prime. That way, you can see..., feel...., smell...., compare.... and select the ones that are right for your creative plans. So, thanks for watching and letting us know. We wish you well in your endeavors - its exciting. Presumably, you have already subscribed to our channel? If you haven't, you might like to think about it, because once you are subscribed, each time we post a new video (which we are doing all the time), you will find that they will turn up automatically in your feed. Good Morning! I just bought 2 hearty Hibiscus and they are lovely. I like my "Candy Crush" best it is such a lovely colour of pink. I also have "Angel Eyes" and it is pretty too. I don't know why I didn't try growing them before. I think I thought they were too delicate. I saw them in other's gardens and admired them but never tried them. I am having some problems with Japanese beetles chewing on leaves. I find mine droop fast, so they do like a lot of water. Thank you for this valuable information. I am moving so I wonder if they develop very deep roots because I plan on digging up my Candy Crush and bringing it with me. Have a great day!

Thank you- I really appreciate the longer videos. More info, more flower comparisons are always better- helps me to decide which variety to get next. Do you happen to know if any will bloom earlier? Thank you for watching and letting us know, it is great to hear that you are enjoying our efforts. Because their natural habit is to emerge from dormancy late (compared to most other perennials), they all tend to flower around the same (mid-summer) period. Plant breeders (like Hans) may be able to bring the flowering forward a bit with future introductions, but at this stage they all pretty much flower around the same time. If you were talking to David we know he would suggest making weekly visits to our partnering garden centers: grownbyoverdevest.com/retail-locator/ in May, June, July and early August ( and at other times too), because that's when you would be able to see plenty of other species (like perhaps Peonies and Coneflowers) that would come in before these big exotic looking beauties. Have you subscribed to our channel yet? Thank you for the deep dive into these show-off garden stunners. I have two of the varieties in my gardens but am intrigued by your suggestion to make a hedge along the driveway. Do you suppose I could stagger hibiscus between iris for complete season interest? I'm thinking iris would be ready to cut back about the same time these hibiscus are ready to shine. Zone 6b.
@OverdevestNurseries
@OverdevestNurseries 4 ай бұрын
Thank you. The Iris should work well, but maybe you would consider bringing them forward a bit, just incase they get a bit swamped by the size and vigor of the Hibiscus. Another thought would be to consider planting some dwarf shrubs with earlier foliage color and maybe even some evergreen ones to carry interest over a longer period. Scrolling through our many videos (here on this channel), our website: grownbyoverdevest.com/plant-search/ or even a few trips to some of our partnering garden centers: grownbyoverdevest.com/retail-locator/ should serve to provide possibilities to consider. How to help bare root Hibiscus make it through the winter??
@OverdevestNurseries
@OverdevestNurseries 2 ай бұрын
Thanks for your question. All our plants are grown in containers so they can be selected and planted over a long period and with this minimal disruption they quickly establish their root systems and get off to a quick start to create and almost instant effect. So, we don't have any direct experience of planting them bare root into a garden situation, however assuming your plants are healthy and well established in the earth they should over-winter just like our container grown ones. We hope this helps. Have you subscribed to our channel yet? If you haven't, you might like to think about it, because once you are subscribed, each time we post a new video (which we are doing all the time), you will find that they will turn up automatically in your feed. We have a had nice successes in growing them in large containers, and because they are so hardy (Zone 4) they have over-wintered well for us outdoors (we are also in Zone 7). The trick is, even though they like it on the damp side, to make sure the pots have good drainage and that the containers chosen are (at least) a decent size. This is important because larger containers will be in proportion to the plant sizes, they will be more stable (and not blow over as readily), and very importantly, the more soil volume they have, the less fluctuation there will be in soil temperatures and watering needs. So, when picking them, try to er on the larger sizes, and you can't go too far wrong. We hope this helps. Have you subscribed to our channel? If you haven't, you might like to think about it, because once you are subscribed, each time we post a new video (which we are doing all the time), you will find that they will turn up automatically in your feed. And, as you find our videos helpful, it would be great if you could kindly share the links with your friends and click the "like" button too, because that will help other people find out about the information as well. And, now that we are in the midst of the main planting season (spring through late Fall) we try to encourage everyone to visit our partnering garden centers: grownbyoverdevest.com/retail-locator/. They are located all over our Mid-Atlantic and Northeastern region, and that's where you will find all sorts of beautiful, tried and true and cutting edge, top performing selections, so be sure to stop in regularly throughout the seasons because there will be a steady stream of fresh shipments coming in weekly

I have a Raspberry Eclipse and I have NOT planted it in the ground yet and I don't have a green thumb. I follow the directions but the green leaves seem to turn yellow or yellow brown, the blooms seem to last no more than 2 or 3 days. I have used Garden Safe Garden Insect Killer, Miracle Gro Bloom Booster Flower Food and make sure I water completely when the soil is almost dry. What else can I do and how will the survive in ground in the Winter. Does it go into hibernation? Love these blooms but the question is will it survive in my care! Would love a comment or tip. Thanks. 🙂

Thanks for watching and your comment. Raspberry Eclipse is a very nice Daylily (Hemerocallis). They are easy to grow, and if you are interested and want to learn more, you might like to scroll though our channel and perhaps our website: grownbyoverdevest.com/ that's where you should be able to find out lots of good information on all sorts of top performing plants, including Hemerocallis varieties like this one. One thing we would recommend is that you try to get your plant, planted out in your garden ASAP. They grow fine in pots, but long term, they will do much better planted out. FYI, here's a link to one of David's videos that will take you through the planting out process: kzbin.info/www/bejne/r5e3c6GaiMusiassi=vgrAuNpWzYcc9l6L It is herbaceous (disappears under the ground in late autumn/winter) and remerges again in spring, to grown and flower next summer. Individually the flowers don't last long, but the best selections (which we test and grow), produce lots of buds over an extended period and that's why they put on a great display, once they get going. We hope this helps. Have you subscribed to our channel yet? Is there anything without red/dark pink?

Hi, I have a question that’s a little off topic. I’ve watched your video on the Worry Free: Love-a-lot Pink hydrangea and would like to buy a couple, but I can’t find them up here near Toronto, Ontario. However I did find a hydrangea from Sheridan Nurseries that looks very similar called Pink Avalanche… almost identical descriptions. So I was wondering if you could let me know if these 2 hydrangeas are the same? Maybe the Love-a-lot Pink is sold as Pink Avalanche up here? Thanks David… love your videos!

Thanks for watching, posting your question and for your kind comment. We are happy to confirm that our Love-a-Lot Pink IS the SAME plant that Sheridan Nurseries is offering as Pink Avalanche. So everything you are seeing in our videos applies to it too. It is a wonderful selection, and one that should do very well for you. Don't forget to keep us posted on your experiences with it, just know that it sometimes take a year or two for these panicle hydrangeas to settle in and get established in their new homes. Once this happens it should be spectacular, and in fact, become better and better as it matures. We wish you many years of good health to enjoy it. Finally, have you subscribed to our channel yet ? If you haven't, you might like to think about it, because once you are subscribed, each time we post a new video (which we are doing all the time), you will find that they will turn up automatically in your feed. Thanks for watching and posting your question. As David mentions in this video and our website: grownbyoverdevest.com/splant/?_sfm_genus=Hibiscus%20(perennial) explains, we have them rated as Zone 4 plants. We should add that all our experience in growing them is here in our Mid-Atlantic and Northeastern region: and we know that they are very hardy and reliable throughout our entire (Zone 5 and warmer) region. That means that while we know plenty about their wonderful performance in our area, we cannot guide you much in colder Zones like Zone 3. So, the best thing to do is contact you local garden center and get their guidance. Have you considered subscribing to our channel? If you haven't, you might like to think about it, because once you are subscribed, each time we post a new video (which we are doing all the time), you will find that they will turn up automatically in your feed. And, as you find our videos helpful, it would be great if you could kindly share the links with your friends and click the "like" button too, because that will help other people find out about the information as well.
