When you do a thermostat on a 06 6.0 see my channel for a hack? Unbolt the thermostat and don't attempt to unclamp the hose from the thermostat and take it out as 1 unit. When going back together, don't clamp the thermostat to the hose, until you line up the bolt holes, with the bolts, take it back out as 1 unit, put the clamp back in its place, and reinstall as 1 unit. You cannot get a pair of pliers to put the clamp in place, with thermostat installed.

Did you ever figure out what it was? I’m getting pressure in my coolant but no other symptoms. No smoke or mixing fluids. Not loosing coolant. Pressure is just slightly coming out of degas cap like maybe 16.2 pounds. Hoping not head gaskets but I’m thinking that’s what it is.

If I start watching a 6.0 liter repair video and the guy mentions getting any parts other than Ford Factory or the couple performance aftermarket that have been proven like “Bulletproof Diesel” any other parts poor guy is going to do the chasing parts non stop repairs over and over dance, it tells me that he doesn’t have any kind of information that is correct advice when working on these very good power plants when the engines have been updated correctly. #1 RULE ON 6.0 IS ONLY FORD FACTORY PARTS no matter what with the exception of Bulletproof Diesel in Az and a couple aftermarket performance parts that focused on the specific issues that arise on these engines like the water pump issue they have (Ford Factory Since has updated and corrected with their new water pump) also BP Diesel has their Billet WP one, also using incorrect coolant is a HUGE PROBLEMS WILL OCCUR and the tale tale sign of knowing a mechanic isn’t 6.0 liter experienced is him not knowing that octopus radiator hose is a Ford factory part ONLY that nobody makes an aftermarket to that expensive hose and nobody ever has. Hiring a great mechanic is one thing but the best mechanic in the world that has little to no expiernce with a 6.0 liter you might has well hire the high school kid working at the oil change place to work on your truck, problem with a great awesome mechanic is their ego is usually to big to look up information and educate themselves because they’re to good thinking their instinct is the correct answer nobody but the guys who specialize in 6.0 really knows the ins and outs of the little quarks that 6.0 liters have that need to be followed to a T if you don’t want to keep chasing parts every other week you do yourself and your buddy a favor and look up the little stuff that will kill the engines like using incorrect coolant not flushing it correctly which can take half the day in itself or using the plastic water pump or pumps that aren’t exactly 88mm like the Napa ones which are not and will fail. Nothing against you, you’re an awesome mechanic and it shows you’re a great friend keeping your buddy from going to the shop that pulled the “oh it’s a 6.0 it needs head gaskets for sure” typical go to answer aat most shops that see a payday. You can stop in and tell them you’re having a charging issue but they’ll comeback and say oh it’s the head gaskets. Anyways good looking out for your buddy but #1 advice and help,to give to any 6.0 owner is ONLY USE FORD FACTORY PARTS ONLY yes the higher cost and NO it’s not just a way for the dealer to make money parts at Napa or the others are built in the same place is totally wrong there’s been so many issues that have been researched, tested, updated and fixed through Ford to save from law suits that the factory parts are all updated and the only way to go everything down to Orings, gaskets radiator caps I mean just everything has been redone that when it’s been replaced it’s now a “Bulletproof” power plant after the updates. The problem is not the power plant the problem is the owners NOT researching the updates and doing what Ford demands like preventative maintenance in order to keep that engine running. It’s such a sweet fast RELIABLE BEST SOUNDING power plant when all the updates and repairs are done and making ends is kept up continuously with the right Ford Factory parts.

Lots going on here...first off...the 6.0 is absolutely the worst light/medium duty diesel engine ever made after the 6.4. They are 100% not reliable. No way in fucking hell would I ever buy one unless it was to flip it to some poor 6.0 enthusiast. Theyre fucking absolute garbage engines. HPOP, injector, ipr, icp sensors, turbos, harness, connector, head gaskets, FICM, oil cooler, cam and crank sensor issues and the list goes on and on. Fucking junk "Bulletproofing" only "fixes" a handful of the common issues. There are TONS of good diesel shops and diesel parts retailers that sell quality parts. Theyre fucking shit engines. 6.0s kept a lot of shops and retailers alive. The work is there because the engines are shit. With that said, i dont work on 6.4s but if i could make a living ONLY doing 6.0s and 7.3s then I would. I like working on them. Once youve done 100 of them you can really start making money on them. I would agree that most Motorcraft parts are the best on the market but we have to remember that we are replacing motorcraft parts that have already failed. Not a very good indication that motorcraft parts are great or even good although they may be the best. The best isnt always good...there are miltiple levels of shit when talking 6.0s Ive been working on 6.0s since 2012. Customers in 2012 had completely different attitudes and opinions than customers in 2023. When trucks are only a few years old and owned by the original owners they are a lot more easily convinced to go with factory OEM parts. Or even upgraded parts. When these trucks are 15-20 years old woth 400k miles and 8 owners later and the customer has already spemt 10-15 grand on the pile of shit...its very hard to convince them to put motorcraft parts instead of vato zone specials. Theyre usually done spending money and they just want it running so they can sell it. Thats why pretty much all 6.0s have more than 5 previous owners. We had a rule at a used truck dealer I used to work at that we would not buy or sell 6.0s or 6.4s. The customers will never be happy with that purchase. Now that these engines are 15-20 years old, the dealer doesnt always have parts in stock. I do mainly mobile work. I deal with work trucks stuck on the side of the road with trailers hooked to them. They need to be back on the road ASAP. Not a 500 dollar tow and 2 or 3 days out on parts. I always try to sell the best parts available but "available" sometimes means "right...fucking...now." i have seen autozone cam and crank sensors not work out of the box. I have seen napa HPOPs not work longer than 24 hours. I have seen amazon IPRs not work out of the box. I warn the customers. Theyre paying me. If they cheap out and end up paying me to do the job twice...i dont know what to say...i told you so? You cant force a customer to pay for factory parts. I am very articulate in informing the customers not to buy cheap shit and i have zero complaints about my work or the way i do business. I have a very good reputation and lots of repeat customers and lots of word of mouth customers. Im not a 6.0 expert but im pretty good with them. I wish I did more of them. You sound like a 6.0 enthusiast and probably a 6.0 owner. You speak of putting quality parts in a very very sub-par engine that is 15-20 years old...you should be speaking of upgrading to something other than a 6.0. Theyre fucking garbage. How there are still people defending these engines I will never know.

I know this is an old comment but the reason you could not hear the video is because your audio cable is damaged internally. Very common on headphones, likely where the cable bends and flexes near the connector. Most videos and audio will be very easy to hear but then you come across a video like this one where it is recorded in mono sound. Because of how the cable failed the mono signal to both the left and right speaker are now canceling each other out electrically resulting in very quiet audio and maybe what sounds like a heavy rainstorm if you turn the volume very high to try and hear what is happening or being said. I have 4 cables that have failed like this and most audio across the internet and games plays perfectly fine through them, then a video like this one comes along and is the perfect set-up to make the failed cable make a video sound horrible. I was able to duplicate the audio as you described it with a damaged cable and then when the scene changed to his driveway the audio was impossible to hear exactly like you claimed. Very rare but I've seen others comment on this problem and I've never seen anyone other than myself understand what went wrong.

@@bwadles7659 not true. All motorcrafts are the small cap and filters. Motorcraft filters only come with the filter. No cap. Napa and wix are tall filters WITH tall caps. The problem is people buy wix filters and then go back to motorcraft short filters but they have to use the wix cap because the motorcraft filters dont come with the cap. Then the filter is too short to depress the bypass and you always chase oil pressure issues.
