I think what that game does best is educating people how gargantuan in scale and in resource drain superstructures are. It makes us understand that our scientific progress in physics, chemistry and engineering is absolutely nothing. What is even more funny that the scale of this game actually downplays the real requirements as the size of planets and solar systems are way smaller than in reality. Fantastic shots in this video!

It's always confused me why this game isn't the defacto factory game. At one point, this game *did have more players that Satisfactory (I don't think anything can realistically out-compete Factorio, so that's why I'm using Satisfactory instead), but for some reason, it's dropped far below that in sustained numbers. It'd be nice if they did a full release at some point soon - that could give it the boost and legitimacy it needs to shoot back up to what it deserves.

MechWarrior 2 Soundtrack let go! Oh the flashbacks. Thank you for the content. We are Clan Wolf, children of Kerensky. We carry the honor of his name on our shoulders as our fathers did before. The Remembrance speaks to us of the evil in man's will, of the reasons for Exodus and the Rites of the Traveler. Arcadia is our destiny and our right. Enlightenment is our gift. By the Blood names of the founders we must return, return and protect that which is unique among the stars. Terra awaits us as it was written. We are the last of the Wardens, the sole hope for the earth. This verse has ended. Our destiny is sealed to a once unthinkable fate. We have found new allies in an ancient foe, and enemies in our siblings. The honor of the Warden way, like a pyre in the blackness of space, has guided us to our home on Terra. Kerensky foretold us of this Eden. The promise of deliverance. We will defend it to our deaths. Let the next verse begin.

The Sphere itself generates 40,6 GW... and the Swarm is currently up to 20 GW (and growing). If I ever need more power I can either fill in the inner sphere, or build some kind of structure far above or far below the plane of the planets. but... @@Calmputer The cost of infinite techs is getting insane. I just finished my first game and I spent 50 hours to build a Dyson sphere comprised of 2 shells with second one as disc. I was able to make a factory that launches around 240 rockets per minute and 3600 sails per minute. My white jello tech was at around 500 per minute. I plan for my next next project to be much faster at that. At the end of the game due to my 1st playthrough I had moments when I just wanted to give up and delete everything because it got so messy. What saved my sanity in was my Lava Planet, acting as a battery charger. That allowed me to build energy exchanger network on my expansion planets. But when I saw how many rockets you launch per 10 second cycle I gave up. In the middle of building 1st Dyson Sphere, i read up about luminosity. O Type stars are the most luminous. So i plan to build one there. My next game I plan to have one blue belt of rockets and 1 blue belt of white jello. With this in mind i will surely learn how to be modular with factory expansion. There is so much to learn in craft of logistics and organization. Sorry for my long comment!

Same here. Once you get to Dyson Swarm tech, it's really just a quick hop, skip and a jump to get to Dyson Sphere building. That said, you really don't have to worry too much about your resources... when you get to repeatable universe research, you can stretch a single mining node into infinity. Just make sure you don't use up all of the Unipolar Magnets before then...

Does anyone know or remember the OG MMO game called "Mankind" back in the day? Look it up! It was one large galaxy, with literally millions of solar systems, and everyone played together in one giant galaxy which acted as a server. Players built settlements and factories akin to factory games. I feel like Dyson Sphere could eventually do something similar, maybe not in its current iteration, but maybe with a sequel many years from now. I dunno, would be cool.

@Calmputer3 жыл бұрын
If you're talking about the early shots of the planets "waking up", then it was a mod called "FreeCamera", which increases the view distance to about that you get in map view. If it's the later fly-by's, then... there is a spot right outside the gravity well where you can sit and hold down S to shop *most* movement. You've touched on the point I dislike most with making these time lapses... it's impossible to be completely still. I wish for some kind of free-cam mod... preferably with programmable pathing... but I have no hope of seeing that any time soon.

There's a thought in my mind where this is the next step of civilization. Unless something cooler comes along the way, we're still on course for being a type infinite civilization and/or people. We are why art, music, and fantasy and imagination itself occurred in a universe that is so orderly that we might be the only system in existence that can crack a joke about pooping.

Could you please summarize what each mod does and how necessary they are for a build like this?
@Calmputer2 жыл бұрын
This time lapse was made last year, so most of the mods listed either don't work, or aren't needed any more. The biggest hurdle to making this was that blueprints weren't in the game yet, so you had to use mods to build large scale stuff like this. Now that blueprints are in the game, I've made largely the same thing in-game without any mods at all. ...but here are the ones I'd use today, just in case: r2modman: Mod manager. let's you search for, download, and install all the other mods listed. No Advisor: shuts down the tutorial pop-ups and messages. FreeCamera: Lets you zoom out further. SphereEditorTools: adds a whole slew of functionality to the Dyson Sphere editor. Such as mirroring and other symmetry tools.

hi, i know you probably won't see this but i would like to know how you are able to move the camera around like that, i am wanting to make timelapses of my own, thanks!
@Calmputer8 ай бұрын
It's tricky, and somewhat frustrating... but the results are worth it. I use a program called JoyToKey, which allows you to remap a controller's buttons to keyboard or mouse movements. Then I set up the DPAD on an xbox controller to move the mouse a few pixels up, down, left or right several times per second. which makes for very smooth camera movement in-game. I hope they eventually introduce a freelook camera though... or that someone mods in programmable camera movement. Hope it helps.
