I purchased one of these and love it. One mod I did was to cut a piece of 22mm plywood to rest on the horizontal members under the chair (102x40 cm) with a cut out (14x24 cm) for the centre post (keyboard vertical post bracket). This provides a smooth surface to help entry/exit to place feet especially in socks! It is also possible to mount one of the flat plates to the right of the stick elevated 3” to raise the mouse pad to a more comfortable level without interfering with the stick. Great content as always thank you.

I own one of these and love it! It's surprisingly comfortable and versatile. My recommendation is to pick up 2020 aluminum extrusion to cut and mount customs setups if you have switch panels, screens for gameglass, etc. But it's very easy to mount additional gear to. I even modified the keyboard mount using extrusions to place it where I need it in relation to the rest of my panels. Very solid chair. Highly recommend it.

What I do like about it over my own rig at home is the notch in the front of the lower seat cushion. Mine uses a standard car seat and doesn't have that, which makes using a center mounted extended flight stick kind of goofy without having a massive crook in the extension. So I end up using mounted to the side without the extension, which I'm not overly fond of. I like having the extension as it does feel a bit more realistic(Especially in WWI & WWII sims, which are what I tend to focus on.), plus it does give you a bit finer control overall. So I do like the way that is setup a lot. Pretty cool.

You could fix all these issues if it was like an office chair where you can rotate to the left or right with sticks mounted to the chair frame so everything moves with you. Would add ability for height, tilt, etc. Just a bracket is needed to fit the shaft and connect the seat to back rest.

I have the NLR F-GT with triple monitor stand that I bought second hand. I added the Combat Flight Pack. I would not recommend my setup to flight sim enthusiasts as even the seat in the most forward position and the combat flight pack mounts and mounting platforms in the most aft position, my Warthog HOTAS just barely makes it to a comfortable position. Also, no notch in the seat or option for center stick. I can't really complain because I have much less $$ invested than MSRP and it's a good starter rig. I recently spec'd out the Monstertech the way I would want it and it came out to about $2500 (not including shipping), so I'll be stuck with the F-GT for a while... at least until I get my kid's college tuition paid off.

If glad to put a face to over the video's I've watched. Thanks you for all the content you offer. Second that's to the idea about the PTO and combat panel, I'm going to move mine tonight. Monster tech has swing out post for stick and throttle if you are looking for ideas. Don't beat yourself up, i'm 175 with a 35" waist line, and I have trouble getting in and out with how the chair is set up. Ha, ha, ha, I didn't read anything for setup just looked at the pictures. But to tell the truth, i've re-configured it like 4 times. went with center stick and keyboard on the right (which i will have to move).

Hey bud. Love your channel. I just was finishing my Boeing sim pit when I saw your video. I still have to get the motion stand set up I got the commercial one. It’s so well made and it feels like your in a cockpit. My only complaint and it’s slight, Is that I use a honeycomb bravo throttle. It sits far back. It’s a little difficult to move the throttle handles I’m like you size wise but short. So I’ll see how comfortable on a flight Love what you do. Hope to see you in a live stream

Re: getting in and out of the cockpit, what about having a raised platform around and to the back of it, so you step down into the seat versus trying to step around your hardware? Would that be feasible given the footprint and design of the simpit in your space?

I may get one of these. Could you attach a collective to the left side anywhere? Also, where did you get those magnets for the stick? I don't see a link in the description. Is the seat comfortable over a few hours of sitting? Did a mouse and keyboard pad come with it? I've read that a Buttkicker adapter is also included?

Great vid review OKS! This was the first of your vids I've seen during my search of improving my flight/race set up as well as the this particular sim rig. It may not have all functions I want, but I have yet to actually check out the product site to see how modular it is. One thing that really caught my interest was the concern you had or desire to make it easier to transfer in and out of. That's kinda been a concern for me, being a T-10 paraplegic, getting in and out of the seat w/ attached hardware, i.e. dual stick, hotas controller, and perhaps some other components, would make it problamatic to get in and out of the seat. I wonder if there's a rig or piece of hardware to make an arm rest swivel a full 180 degrees to unobstruct and open space for chair entry and exit. IThanks for the vid, very cool to see the first review that mentioned entry/exit complications for those of us who are a little more mobility challenged. Thanks for any time, energy and consideration you throw my way! Aslo, would be nice to be able to put in a wheel for both my flight sim, mainly Star Citizen atm, as well as racing sims like Forza 5. As I'm paralyzed from the waist down, ruddders are of no use. A a platform to but my feet on is much better for me needs. Again, any insight or recommendations to othe rigs would be very cool. It looks like Monstech is pretty innovative and most modular but they're definitely on the higher end spectrum, high end quality and design.

Right on man! That's exactly the type of functionality I'm looking for to make transfers into my sim rig much more easier. The magnetic plates are genius! I wonder if they can be integrated into other sim rigs... The price is on point for what you get, definitely not entry level, but mid-range and affordable to get started. Is there a monitor/tv mount attached or sold along with it? I'm going to join your Discord, perhaps we can chat and exchange some ideas on mapping out a potential collaborative build for my dedicated flight/race sim.

I like the look of the seat itself but, no possibility to use a seat mover? It also looks like the angled head rest may get in the way with VR use. I guess you're supposed to enter the cockpit as in real life by climbing a few steps then stepping on the seat and then sitting down, realistic but difficult for some.

I use a 8KX no problems. When you are ready to fly and remove it after you log out of DCS. A small table to the side provides a handy spot to keep your headset when not on your head. I fly the F16 mostly so place the seat back at the appropriate angle and I have no problem when doing BFM.

They put that cutout in the chair for a center mount, but it doesn't look like there is a way to mount a center stick under the chair. This is essential for extended sticks. I see they have a "way too tall" post there connected to a crossbar that would only position the stick correctly if you adjust your chair just right, but my base needs to mount about 8 inches below the top of the seat cushion for my WarBRD with 200mm gooseneck extension, and I want other people to be able to try it. Do you think it'd be possible to put a metal plate between the seat rails and the seat so I can fabricate a mount attached under the seat?
@vikingcat794
@vikingcat794 Жыл бұрын
There is a center mount attachment.
@Specter0420
@Specter0420 Жыл бұрын
@@vikingcat794 you mean the one I mentioned in my comment? It is not connected to the chair, so if a shorter\taller person wants to try, you're looking at adjusting them out of position when you move the chair. It is also FAR too tall for an extended stick with realistic range of motion. My stick needs to mount a few inches under the chair for proper placement.
@paull35
@paull35 Жыл бұрын
This rig appeals to me but I am also put off by the limited solution for a centre mounted stick. It really looks like the centre mount only really caters for a stick without an extension. I think with a bit of thought they could probably come up with a solution that would allow for a much lower mounting position. However, it is a very good point your raise about there not really being any positional adjustment. The idea solution would be for the centre mount and side mounts to move directly with the seat and with a level of adjustment. another problem I can see is no obvious way to mount the Virpil collective to this rig without perhaps having a bespoke bracket fabricated. I think this rig is very good and offers a fairly comprehensive option for fixed wing simmers. I would really like to se the design evolve and cater more for helicopters and even for other games like first person shooters so this would offer a good alternative to a desk. It does not seem to be quite there yet, but certainly looking good and offered at a sensible price.

I would destroy it in two weeks. Somehow I manage to find all the weak points, I earned the name "chair killer" at work. That sprocket system connecting the base to the back, if that's not made of decent steel (and it looks oddly familiar to other gaming chairs I've wrecked) has tabs that deform under load. Other fail modes, tubing in the base, pre-deformed by having holes punched in it for springs. Really need to see how they are constructed internally. The frame looks first rate, as always with these things. But that's not the bit you sit on everyday. Just my $0.02
