Overland Off Grid Truck Camping in the Mountains

This is my first shot at doing some off-roading overland camping in the mountains. this trip has been unreal so far, all i need to do next is catch some fish.. don't worry. my next Montana video has some fishes in it. Thanks for tuning in to this truck camping episode.

Had I known you were in my neck of the woods(Bozeman), I would've been happy to show you to a couple short hikes in the area to alpine lakes where I've had tons of luck catching beautiful-and fairly large-golden trout. I'm enjoying these camp vids, my truck is in the shop getting a front end rebuild and then I'll be hitting the road and making some camping vids to go along with my fishing stuff. If you ever have time to get up to lake McDonald in Montana it's an awesome place to explore and camp. My last big trip was through, S.D., Montana, Wyoming and Colorado then back home to Nebraska.

Well I read about 10 comments so I think you have gotten enough praise from other subs about your inspirational content and your "ADDICTION TO LIFE"..... Possibly there is another comment along the lines of mine, at the time of writing this you have 216 comments. But I want to point out something that I was not expecting.... The football is thrown to you whilst your fly fishing, the thrower of said football doesn't quite have the arm to make it to you so it falls a few feet short and takes a dunk in the water.... all of a sudden "YOU' Ole mav here. Picks it up, while it's dripping and from moment of contact with this football to release of the ball is about 3 short seconds...... and then out of nowhere you hit a guy in a moving boat that I'm guessing is traveling about 3,4,5 MPH, in what appeared to be right in the hands, traveling down the river at what I would say 20-25 yards. It wasn't just some blind heave either, that thing was on a line almost. Also not to forget that you had definitely not warmed up and infact it could possibly be assumed that you had never even held or thrown a football.... (seeming as you have absolutely no tools/power tools....lol...u had that one coming). Now I know I told this story as if it were some sort of old folklore tale...lol... but hey... I pride myself on being able to chunk the ball, but I'm a lefty, so for a right that was 1 hell of a throw homie. 🏈🏈🏈

Those hand-tightening fasteners on your rack on top of the truck ----- if they are loosening while driving, sometimes it helps to get a candle (which you should have anyway), one specifically for this purpose. . . . .take the fasteners out and rub the threads along the wax. You MAY have to heat the candle a little, or heat the wax after it's on the threads, but when you put the fasteners back in the wax will help keep them from loosening on you.

The ford trucks are notorious for reading the wrong fuel level. I have a F150 if I park on a hill (truck running) with the front on my truck pointed down the hill it will dramatically decrease and the opposite if the front of the truck is up it will usually increase the fuel gauge. I try to make sure if I'm going to be idling it for 10 min or longer I try to move it to more level ground.

Hey Mav, if you're ever back in Montana you should check out the Beartooth Pass around Red Lodge. There are a ton of lakes and rivers with amazing Cutthroat Trout fishing, the views are beautiful too!
