It looks like a fabulous vehicle. But I found this to be an extremely frustrating video. I wanted to see what it looks like. But all the camera work was so CLOSE, showing all the detail, that I never got an overall sense of what the thing WAS. There wasn't an overall exterior shot of the van until 11 minutes, and then it was only for a couple of seconds. In fact, I was about 5 minutes into the video before I even realized that it was a van and not a pickup with a slide in camper on the back. START the video with a wide shot walk around, THEN go into all the detail that you showed. THAT would be great.

I am a new subscriber. We will be retiring in just a couple of years, and we are planning to buy a camper van and spend at least 6 months on the road every year. But because of YOUR channel, I am now considering getting something 4x4 so that we can get up into the mountains and AWAY from those campgrounds and RV parks. Thanks for the inspiration!

Good video - but I am pretty sure they used a DSLR for their video work which accounts for the constant focus hunting. A good camcorder work so much better for these purposes and everything stays in focus. Using a 15-30mm zoom would keep the whole rig in the shot. Just my 2 cents but I did enjoy the video - at least the parts that were in focus.

I really enjoy your videos! There are a lot of over landing videos on KZbin and yours break the mold. I like how you talk to everyday people on the trail about their rigs. It's like getting 100s of years of experience at your fingertips. I am a new owner of an 2014 FJ Cruiser and have always wanted to overland. I have hundreds of mile off-road but not over landing and it's my next step. I research everything and watching your videos give me insight into real word needs over cool guy looks. This video, the Rubicon, and Defender vids are super informative if you listen. I also like your "how to" DIY install videos too. Thank you for making this channel and please keep 'em coming!!!

A lot of people seem to think the Econoline is dead, but Ford actually plans to continue offering the Econoline chassis in a cutaway version for at least another 7 years. Sportsmobile still buys them and adds their own fiberglass body, which looks pretty much exactly like the old Econoline, except it has about 4 more inches interior width. They call it the Sportsmobile "Classic". I definitely plan to purchase something like this when I retire in a few years, but I can't decide between the hardcore Ford or a high roof Sprinter 4x4 conversion. I definitely want 4WD, but I'm not sure I need the capability of the Ford. Plus the Sprinter diesel gets way better gas mileage can be configured with more features and storage, since it's a high roof. I think either one would be great to own.

I live 6 miles from the Sportsmobile plant. It is too bad Ford got away from the body on frame Econoline series.
@dlg54855 жыл бұрын
Ford plans to continue selling the Econoline chassis in a cutaway version for at least another 5 years. Sportsmobile buys them and adds their own fiberglass body, which is a few inches wider than the old Econoline, so looks pretty much exactly like it but offers 4 more inches of interior width. I can't decide between that or a Sprinter 4x4 conversion. I definitely want 4WD, but I'm not sure I need this much capability.
@shawnbroyles82745 жыл бұрын
Being from the area I see allot of these rigs I too miss the body on frame 4 inches wider isn't a great thing and fiber glass breaks down I'd prefer a dent verses shredded and I think you would be more prone to water leaks I have the v10 best motor made you will never have a problem!!
