The Mimeoplasm is actually on the database, it’s just in the outdated section. Also, on the topic of Mimeoplasm exiling a jin gitaxias and an elf, it will enter as a copy of jin gitaxias (including it’s p/t) and get +1/+1 counters equal to the elf’s power (1 in this case). Also, I’m kind of surprised neheb, dreadhorde champion wasn’t mentioned as it’s a really interesting breach deck

Great examples on screen and great format thoughts throughout the video. I really liked it from @1:36 on because the conversation got right to how I want the talks to go around more people interested in getting into playing with us. More conversations like this are needed to grow the fanbase and bring new brews to the front.

I've had a Syr Carah primer listed on moxfield for a while now. It didn't start as a cEDH deck, but I've had enough recent success with it in my local meta that I've submitted it to the database. It really is a neat deck. My favorite card in the deck is Mana Clash, it's so janky but it sometimes pulls its weight proportionally to ad nauseam

I've been using a Glenn draw/stax list since the card's release. My table was pretty hesitant at first, but after a few sessions we all had some great fun! Since then, he's evolved into a heavy control list, mainly wincon-less. Had faith in the card since the beginning, and it's held true.

Dylan from Play 2 Win mentioned he got in a situation where someone cloned a Grave Titan 4 times and he was looking at his cEDH deck and thought, "What the hell am I gonna do about this!?". You guys discussed at length that playing big "mid power" cards are a win condition. So I definitely think there is an unexplored or ignored area in cEDH that can exploit people's optimized decklist. Tymna/Kodama stax comes close but theres more to explore for sure. Edit: A few more that can swing big, Pako/Haldan and Jeska/Ishai

I can vouch for Pako/Haldan. I play on a very strict budget (50$) but I make people who have 800$ decks sweat with the good doggo and his dad. The deck is hysterically powerful and adaptive. You can play aggressive if you want someone dead or pressure the table, or you could try and control the table if they do something you dont like. Oh, also you can use their cards against them

While it probably isn't quite there, one of my favorite higher power commanders to play is Xyris, the Writhing Storm. Not necessarily playing a wheel strategy, but playing as many stax pieces you can get in temur colors. Root maze, arcane laboratory, frozen aether, etc. And the Commander just creates an absolute army. Being able to make 3 bodies off of an opponents brain storm or 3 bodies over a turn with an opponent's Kraum isn't something to turn away at. It's definitely not the best, but it's ability to gain advantages from your opponent's basic game actions is amazing. And also just having Impact Tremors or Purphoros with a Wheel of Fortune can just end the game. Even with just one or two tribal synergy pieces for the snakes, ie a Shared Animosity or some such, can easily prove to be lethal with just one turn cycle of people drawing cards with a rhystic study or mystic remora.

I know a friend who has a semi-cEDH Selenia, Dark Angel deck. It's really interesting and it's not quite what you guys described. Basically, (he always calls it "The Emo deck"), it's an Ad Nauseam deck. The main goal is to tutor for and resolve both Phyrexian Unlife and then Ad Nauseam. He then puts his entire deck in his hand, casts a bunch of mana rocks, and casts Repay in Kind. Since he has somewhere in the range of -100 life, and chances are only he has a Phyrexian Unlife out, everyone else immediately loses. The commander then acts as kind of a backup, because hypothetically, if he has just Phyrexian Unlife, Repay in Kind, and a bunch of mana, he can use his commander to execute it as well. Basically every card that involves lowering his life total for some advantage, preventing life loss/losing the game, and then redistributing life totals that exists is in the deck. It's very interesting. I later decided to build a similar deck in that style.

I assume solemnity is in the build for the unlife to not kill him with its infect clause or angels grace, platinum angel?
@damonreid7910
@damonreid7910 3 жыл бұрын
@@EdHGuru Well, I don't know exactly what's in the deck, I only ever saw him play it and talk about it briefly, but I could potentially ask him. Regardless though, using Repay in Kind effectively requires that he has 0 or less life, so Angel's Grace and Platinum Angel would anti-synergize with that particular portion of the deck. Additionally, Solemnity would only really synergize with Phyrexian Unlife, and because Unlife says you take infect when you take DAMAGE, and since Ad Nauseam causes you to LOSE LIFE, not take damage, there's no issue using Ad Nauseam to go to -100 life and draw your deck. Additionally, being effectively put at 10 life doesn't matter because you're extremely likely to win that turn anyway. So though I don't know for certain, I would understand if he didn't run those cards.

I'm still on the Alibou is undervalued and gives a slightly different kind of Boros Stax to Winota which isn't as powerful but is very fun-train. Also you didn't mention the fact that Yasharn pays for its own commander tax. Its a slower payment but it gives you 2 lands every time you play it.

I play Dargo and Jeska. It is so much fun to threaten letha commander damange and a combo in very early turns. It's of course wonky as hell with impuslive draw in red, but it just is supe renjoyable to play. And something people forget: Commander storm stays around over turns. After you looped Dargo, even if your Jeska was stopped, next turn you try again. And well, mono red Dargo is the right way to play Final Fortune, because it's all in the spirit of a aggressive mono red deck.

I love what you guys said about Yasharn. I built an Esika deck that was all about cheating out big hatebears like Elesh Norn, Rhuric Thar, and others like that. It was a ton of fun because it didn’t have a combo and just beat my opponents down. Also Dargo works as a ritual with breach, you can use him to sacrifice all of you mana positive rocks. His cost reduction doesn’t put a cap on how many things you can sacrifice so you can sacrifice more than enough to bring him to one mana.

I really like this idea of overlooked commanders in cEDH. I don't know if it is overlooked since the card was just printed in Innistrad: Midnight Hunt commander but I'm working on Wilhelt, the Rotcleaver. I've always loved zombie tribal, especially zombiecrats. The three wincons that I came up with so far are Wilhelt + Poppet Sticher + 1 zombie + sac outlet for infinite activations of the sac outlet and infinite death triggers, Gravecrawler + Phyrexian Alter + Wilhelt for infinite death triggers and infinite decayed zombies and Acererak + Rooftop Storm for infinite activations of the Dark Pool in the Lost Mine of Phandelver dungeon. I don't know if those wincons are too cute to make the deck work but I like the challenge. The biggest problem I'm having so far is figuring out what zombies are actually worth playing besides my commander, Diregraf Captain. Acererak and Gravecrawler.

I've always said cEDH is a mindset, not a cardpool. As long as you're trying to go all out to win without intentionally holding your deck back like a casual table would, you're playing cEDH. Some cards are objectively better for this purpose, but the range of commanders you can reasonably build to play cEDH is wider than just the most represented.

I actually think Azorius has some less compact but more overlooked win conditions available to it that would work well in Grant. Specifically, you’re in the perfect colors to run enchantment and artifact tutors for Isochron Scepter Packages. 2x Scepter+Dramatic Reversal+Swan Song with any extra turn effect; IsoRev+Blind Obedience; and you could get really spicy and also run Teferi’s Time Twist as spot protection and a power buff for Grant that combos with Isochron+Mystic Sanctuary+any extra turn spell. You also have access to Auriok Salvagers+LED, which you can use to combo out with Blind Obedience, Aetherflux, Brain Freeze, or Mind’s Desire, or by drawing your deck with an x-cost draw spell and either drawing your opponents out with BSZ loops or winning with Thoracle/Lab Man. They’re not as simple and clean as Thoracle Consult or Emiel Dockside lines, but I think at least Isochron and Bomberman combos are viable, and many of them use cards that are good on their own when not being used to combo off. (Call the Gatewatch is also spicy in controlly Azorius decks with artifact wincons; it lets you fetch up Tezzeret, plus WotS Narset, Jace, and Teferi, though that’s probably more of a mid-power tech given the mana investment.)

in cedh deckbuilding, i think most ppl are playing whatever they've seen already a million times. Deck building is quite hard and playing something that has results already is a safe bet for most players, especially if they only play say once a week or so

Im thinking of building an arcades the stratigist approach of the second sun deck seeing as all the walls are super low curve your just cycling them and getting a huge board

I played Yasharn in a more high power meta but my main wincons were Elesh Norn/Craterhoof, or Heliod and Walking Ballista. For Heliod combo, Ranger Captain was still good to tutor for Ballista. Also have a Karlov player in my group who would get Karlov up to 7 or so counters then play Humility and Night of Soul's Betrayal to clear the board and beat our faces.

I've always felt that any deck can be a CEDH. They might not be meta but they can sit at a table. I've got a Yarshan pillowfort deck that plays living plane and ghostly prison with linvalla keeper of silence. Your protected from attacks and your oppents won't be able to cast spells to stop you. Vega the Watcher is a deck that needs to be looked at. Brain freeze is an amazing win con with isocron reversal

An interesting question but do you think you could make a yurlok stax deck work in cedh? You would more play around the fact he is a dork instead of his mama burn ability though using a card like sudden end could be used to end an infinite Mana combo and kill the player. (Very unlikely situation)He also offered politics in the form of adding Mana to people's pools for interaction.

Syr Carah was my brew for mono-red but ended up opting for Godo instead. Syr Carah and Godo both depend on their Commander, except Godo can just come back into the game out of nowhere if disrupted as to where Syr Carah might struggle to get back in the game, imho. At least from an all-in perspective. On Yasharn: it’s nuts. Lol. I dare say as much as rule of law is in this meta.

Winota has become my favorite CEDH deck to play! First games I ever played with her were in a tournament that I ended up top 8ing and then the next month I top 4’d in the tournament! October’s tournament I’m aiming to win with her 👌

Hi gents, great episode as always. Any chance we’ll see you actually play any of these commanders on an episode, or even ones that are decent, but that you didn’t talk about? For instance, I think Emry, lurker of the loch has a chance of putting up a good fight, but I’ve never seen her featured as a commander on your channel.
