The admiral and I had many boat camping adventures like that on our last boat. No generator - we opted for a small camp stove to boil water to make coffee and fry eggs and a small propane bbq for dinners. We loved it. That electric griddle is quite versatile too!

For this trip we brought our skillet as a back up and were lucky we did because our propane tanks were done for. We love your channel! I'm just starting out boating. I bought a 19' CC it's 28 yrs old but in very good shape to bring back to like new. It's well on it's way now. I've ground out 90% of the gelcoat cracks and repaired them. Almost ready to start gelcoating and all the fun that comes with it 😂. I'm excited the engine is running good and it's a 1987 Mercury 150 hp 2 stroke. I'm going to be repainting the engine and putting new decals on it eventually. First I'm making the boat look like brand new inside and out. Stopping any water intrussions into the hull. The hull and transom are solid as a rock and look good along with the stringers. Just have to wet sand and buff the interior and I'm gelcoating the floor white. I'm putting in more time and effort than money really everything has been nickel and dime. New tinned marine wire was fairly cheap to do a lot of wiring and installing fuse blocks heat shrinking connections ect. Adding a house battery was easy and fairly cheap for it's advantage. A sloar charging panel for it wasn't even that expensive really. When I'm done with this boat I'm using it for a while making sure everything is working perfectly then selling it for a lot more than I paid for it. It's my plan to buy a 24' cabin cruiser or walk around. I wanted to just go fishing and use the center console for leisure as well. Now I just want a fully enclosed rear deck and a full galley and sleep quarters below. Basically a small cabin on the water I can tow anywhere and put in a slip where my wife and I can escape to fo overnight sanity breaks😂.

I don't know why so many have gotten away from the standard galvanized Danforth fluke type anchor. On a sandy or even a sand / mud mix, I have never seen a Danforth with the proper length of chain and enough scope "Drag Anchor" on anything from or 15 to 24 foot boats even in those heavy squalls that sometimes pop up. We always use a stern anchor when boat camping. We've used a little 4 pound fluke anchor with no chain for up to a 25 foot boat. The stern anchor helps in MANY ways. It will help keep tension on the main anchor line helping to maintain the main anchor set. It will limit the boat "Swinging At Anchor." If your boat swings at anchor enough for the waves to be abeam of the boat, Even the smallest of waves will feel like the boat is rocking like CRAZY from inside the cabin. If the boat swings at anchor enough it will unset any anchor. Usually when using the stern anchor we are in shallow water so it works best if you simply walk the anchor out and manually set it. If you are dragging anchor in the conditions shown in the video you have the wrong anchor, not enough chain or not enough scope.

Cool video!! AND the boat looks GREAT! I have watched all the videos, commented a couple of times and am pretty impressed with what you started with and what you have transformed this boat into. Hopefully many more great adventures to come. Look into getting a butane stove for the boat. We use 2 when on boats when cooking one for coffee and other for frypan. Once coffee is done can add second fry pan. They are very inexpensive (@$30-40) easy to store and keep clean and you will not need to run the genset. The canisters are very inexpensive also and really easy to store in a Tupperware or other container with other cooking stuff. One thing is do not leave the canisters on the boat while on trailer parked or when it is really hot out because they are pressurized. Also if your anchor alarm got set off during the night it may have been from tide shift. Boats can swing off the “spot” pretty easily especially with a lot of scope on the anchor line. Double anchoring can usually eliminate this or extend the alarm ring ( @length of anchor line you have out) a very little bit. Looking forward to the next video👍🏻
@perfectfitboating11 ай бұрын
Brian, thank you so much for commenting and for watching our videos and the kind words! 🙏We love the feed back! On this trip we had small butane tanks for the grill. Unfortunately they rusted out because we left them on the boat (just like you said🤣) and they were no good. So we had no choice but to run the genset. But youre right we’ll stick those in tupperware that’s a great idea! The wind really picked up and I’m still working on what’s a good amount of scope for our setup. We use a Bruce/claw anchor and it’s good but we’re thinking of changing to a delta style. Those seem to work great with our bottoms down here. We’ll keep both and use them like you suggest. That’ll be the ultimate anchor setup! Thanks again! 🤙

Great video. A suggestion - and I’m not trying to be a downer. Although on that night with the steady breeze it was not an issue, if you ever stay out on a windless, or nearly windless night, and are going to run the AC, consider placing your generator up on a cooler or something more elevated than on the deck and try get the exhaust as close to the outside aft edge as possible. You might want to look into getting some kind of extension pipe for the exhaust as well. You have to be aware of and reduce the risk carbon monoxide poisoning. You can also get a carbon monoxide detector like for RVs. On a completely windless night, if that exhaust doesn’t get vented out well it literally could be lethal. We are out regularly down by Elliott and over by Billy’s Point and occasionally stay overnight. If you sleep out near there, make sure also to take plenty of mosquito repellent and keep far enough away to keep the skeeters at bay. We are long time So. Florida boaters - 29’ Seavee center console, 2004, white with twin 225 Opitmax’s - same name as my username here, say hello if you see us. Stay safe and keep up the videos.

Hey thanks so much for the comment! You’re absolutely right though. So this was our first time camping and we didn’t end up using the generator. An exhaust pipe is definitely needed. We actually have a mount for the generator on the gunnel where the exhaust pipe goes down toward the water. We also have a smoke and carbon monoxide detector in the cabin. Carbon monoxide is extremely lethal so we take it serious. Check out our other video when we camped at Bahia Honda! We went fully prepared on that trip! Hope to see you out there one day! 🤙

Hello cap. Love the video and now you know what involves in staying overnight on a boat, my maximum nights stays are 6 nights and i have to ration water amd beer lol, fish i always have plenty to eat but portable water is very important, now one question on your generator position test ware the hot engine exhaust travels to, because if that exhaust can hit the engine for long periods of time, remember there is fuel lines inside, just looking out for you and your wifes safety, and looking forward to seeing more of your overnighter cap. Navigate safe cap 🛥👍⚓️

Cap thank you for the comment! We’ve got 2 trips overnight on the boat so far. Our next video will come out next Monday (not tomorrow). For this particular video, and it being our first time, we didn’t film much. So we made the best of what we had. From here on out we’ll be putting more and more effort into filming like you do. As far as the position of the generator goes, we only put it there for the 15 or so minutes we used the skillet. I have a setup very similar to your old generator setup where it’s mounted on the gunnel. Still missing the exhaust pipe which is coming soon. But you are correct. It’s definitely not safe to position it there long term. One more thing cap. I’m planning on mounting a window ac unit in the cabin as a permanent install. Do you know the dimensions of your unit? And is that the smallest you know of? I have about 17” if width and 24 inches of height to play with. It’ll be going in a cabinet that is fixed mounted in the cabin. If you look at our video, it’s the cabinet to the immediate entrance of the port side in the cabin. Thanks cap!
