No classic angling literature to quote from, and where's the cane rods and wicker baskets? A Passion For Angling will never be surpassed, but this is a new era, and Carl and Alex are ruling from their new castle in South Wales...

My lad will be gutted you was on our doorstep and missed you, watches all your videos religiously and part of the reason he loves the sport. He’s 6 now and been fishing since he could hold a rod, thank you for videos like this that drive his passion. Keep up the good work guys and inspiring the next generation of anglers with your quality content 👍🏻

I’m always surprised (though maybe I shouldn’t be by now) by the photography and editing on these videos. Beautiful shots of the castle, the birds, the water, and the fish. Just stunning. Also, that feeling of starting fishing and the anxiety of wanting to catch a fish…so true, Alex!

I go everyday best day so far got 7 takes landed 6, with back to back 20+ lb mirrors. Then my little brother went and got 3/3 takes 👌Carp fishing is the best, going to buy some gear from you guys this week! 🎣

Very late seeing this video!! I watch your channel (and other fishing ones on KZbin) from time to time and I never leave comments, never once. BUT, this video means a lot to me..... I was born and raised in Caerphilly and started fishing at 5 on the castle moats, my home water. In those days the South moat was the best, followed by North and East, The banks were still natural and wooded in places. It was an amazing fishery (going back up to 40 years here!!). My father was Welsh team manger for world championships in the time of Clive Branson (first, maybe only still, Welsh world champion) and I was a successful junior match angler... Caerphilly summer league & winter league champion, Welsh junior champion, multiple Welsh international etc etc. I am an old dude now, and live abroad in a place where there is no coarse fishing (a hot, dry climate with not one fresh water source on the island). I haven't been fishing for 15+ years (except in the sea here), which makes me a little sad sometimes. If I am ever in the UK I cannot pass a bit of water or stretch of river without looking and thinking 'that swim, this method, that bank etc etc... It 's in the blood will stay with me forever. But this place is where it all started for me. So boys.. thank you so much for this video, it's more nostalgic for me than you can ever know. Keep up your passion. I remember being young and absolutely living for fishing and nothing else. These days, for you to make some kind of living from it is fantastic. Well done!!

Hi Gary, loved hearing this. Wow, really! Happy that it could bring back such dear memories for you. Such a special water in an amazing setting ...what a place to learn to fish! That's a real shame, sorry to hear there's no beloved coarse fishing where you are. But glad to hear you've got the sea fishing! Hope you can get back here and coarse again one day :) thanks so much for your kinds words, means a lot. All the best!

Great video. Must be so nice to have the place to yourself. Having picked up angling again after a 20 year break I’ve found it amazing how aggressive and confrontational other anglers are, especially (but by no means only) other carp anglers. I don’t know what your experience has been but I’m not sure I’ll ever take my son.
