Great video, Noah. Takes me back to when I was a kid (back in the fifties). Went many times to a hunting camp beyond the Stanley Airport. Was a consortium of several owners. Remember sleeping on the straw-filled ticks. The world changed, yahoos got mobile with trucks and trashed the camp.

An enjoyable video Noah. I am amazed at how neat a tidy these cabins are that you visit. I live in Northern Ontario, and we don't have public use cabins, only privately owned ones. I think public cabins here in Ontario would be falling down, or destroyed by users taking them for granted. A group of us own a remote hunting cabin (no road, or water access). We leave the door unlocked and fully stocked with dry firewood for any lost travellers. Only once in the last 20+ years have we had anyone stay there without our knowledge. They drank booze that was left, stole quarters that we used for cards, and left dirty dishes in the sink. 🤷♂

Noah, this was a wonderful trip back into the NS woods for me. Before I moved to B.C. twenty years ago, I paddled lots of NS rivers with Dusan, his wife, Dave, Alan, Brian, Carl, Greg and other white water paddlers. I really miss those trips with my old friends. I hope they are all still enjoying the Medway like we used to! Looking forward to your next adventure.

I've found that with my MSR which I bought back in the very early 80's the "O" rings and the pump work better with some silicon grease and a bit smeared around any "O" ring seals helps protect them from perishing and splitting something I learnt from storing the MSR for years and having to buy new seals and "O" rings but shelf life of neoprene seals etc is tops 12 months , a little longer with silicon grease. The Autumn flush is amazing over there which is something Eucalypts here don't get except the colour changes in the bark as the weather gets cooler . Going by the drone shots the water isn't too far away, I guess on slightly higher ground for the rise after the winter thaw . Really neat seeing more of your country Moses. Cheers Mate and stay and be safe.👍👍👍😎💨🏴☠☮☮☕☕💡🌈

A standard axe will split wood too but it’s primarily for chopping as the blade is thinner ! When I attach one to my pack frame it’s always a std chopping axe 2.75 pd head ! Your handsaw is of a good model and quality brand always a must to slip one in my pack ! All 3 of my MSR pumps need a little nudge from time to time ( new field kit every 5 years ) The Check ball I remove and soak it in fresh fuel for 5 minutes put it back in and it works perfectly! Other than that it’s an O ring here and there ! Great stoves my oldest is almost 30 years old now ! Out of all the MSR stoves the Dragonfly is still the greatest stove !!

Hey! The comment you made about when you have kids, you want the outdoors to be a big part of their life, that sounded very heartfelt. Love seeing old cabin still standing, we used to own a cabin, but now has been turned into a cabin that you just signed the logbook for anybody to stay because it’s so far out it’s an upper Dean. The lake is called bog Island. Just off of College Lake. Pretty sweet spot really nice lake. Sometimes you can find some good fishing there. I would love to be able to find out where this one is to go to. There’s a couple in my area. where is the GPS to go to this place? If it’s possible still I keep to myself so it’s nice to enjoy an old cabin.

It's been a long time since I hiked out to a cabin, I always tried to leave something behind to make the next persons stay a little better, stuff like tea lights, lighters and matches, a pack of cards. I think the most random thing I left was a big jar full of nuts, bolts, screws and nails, I got it at an estate sale for 50 cents and when I returned to that cabin a year later I read in the visitors book a thank you note saying the jar had come in handy and saved the day for someone.
