In this video I do an overnight backpack in the woods of Wyoming on the Boulder Creek Trail in the Wind River Range. The date is August 22, 2020. This was a last minute trip as my originally scheduled trip had to be postponed (then eventually cancelled). I explain why in this video. I am joined by my friend Bryan DeLay (channel link below) on this final of 2 trips in The Winds (first trip: Cirque of the Towers Loop liked below). Boulder Canyon is a beautiful canyon with a creek running through it. There are some early signs of fall showing up in the form of fall color! Join me!

Love the different streams in this video.....they all had a nice slow lazy flow and the video also had a nice lazy feel.about it also....no big goals or hurry-up to reach the next campsite....very relaxing!!!! I especially liked seeing the rocks with bright orange moss.....the beaver house....and the very rich colors of some of the pools in the creeks.

Just hiked up Boulder Creek Trail one month ago and caught fish from Still Waters which is between the upper bridge and the falls. Rather than going to the left along the beaver pond you go right through the forest to a beautiful section of the creek for rainbow trout. My dad has had cabin at Boulder Creek Ranch for over 25 years and it’s one of my favorite places to visit in the summer. Thanks for filming your trip. Good memories!

@@kobkfighter3203 To have a bat fly into your hair would be awful indeed? I would've been concerned about rabies too. I had a June Bug get caught in my hair once and it really frightened me. @@CatherineGregoryAdventures I backpacked for ten days in the Wind River Wilderness back in the 70's. The mosquitos and horse flies were so bad my group of four people had to wear head nets, long- sleeved shirts and gloves to avoid being ravaged by the voracious insects. The worst was watching the horse flies land on the person in front of you . They crawled all over your back looking for a place to bite. Above tree line or higher than the horses would go it wasn't so bad but at night a mountain lion came through our camp above a lake. Quite alarming to see the tracks all around our tents. Forgot to mention the ticks which were prevalent. No way would I sleep under a tarp given a choice. If you could overcome the hardships the landscape was spectacular.

Fantastic shots with some relatively inexpensive gear. Great job! Backpacking in the USA is the best, I have some fantastic memories. I was planning to go to the Sierras this year, but Covid made it impossible... I never quite undestood how sleeping in a tarp was possible, with all the bugs flying, crawling around...

I'm sure you get many hike suggestions so, here is another for your to do list Cat. Mt. Rainier Wonderland Trail circumnavigating The Mountain...out and back dissections of the trail or a multiday excursion of the whole of it...sublime. Late July thru August is your best chance to avoid the wet.

The fires are getting a LITTLE better now here in Cali. Im hoping to hit the Eastern Sierras and Mammoth area starting Sept. 8th of 9th. Hoping since the Holiday is over that the crowds might thin out a little....and also hoping the fire situation will improve even more. One of these days I need to hit the Wind range...Ive fly Fished all over Wyoming, Montana , Idaho and Utah....just never checked out the Wind's. Beautiful video....thanks for taking us along....Take care
