We are happy to present to you our very first dual overnighter at the dugout shelter in the bavarian forest.
It was a great experience and all the hard work finally paid off.
We finished the fireplace that I started in Part 3 of the dugout series and improved the bed. After a tasteful dinner and a relaxing evening by the fire we spent a cozy night before heading home.
This was actually filmed in June 2019.
Sorry for the long wait and thank you all for your patience.

You get people like ray mears who says we all need to get out of the house and learn some bushcraft but but most of us cant sadly in britain or atleast in england we could go out to do it but then we'd get fined or kicked of the land from a farmer or just land owner even ray mears would have to usually ask for permission when filming a show in britain. Alot of us who want to go out and learn shouldnt be forced to go out to other countries to do it we should be able to get out and do it here in our own country aslong as we're not damaging the environment and poaching and what not or harming anyone we should be able to get out but its to strick in most parts of the country. But it would be nice i suppose we can atleast do wild camping in parts like parts of the lake district just means you cant build a shelter like this but you bring a tent instead but it would be better if you could as for one a shelter like this if left it will eventually give bck to the forest where as tents are often left and are usually made of man made fabrics and shelters like this are made from the land and will eventually turn back into the land where as a tent dosnt.

@JustRandomPfusch
@JustRandomPfusch 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks, that sounds great! I don't know how experienced you are, but here's my tips: Start small, but be ambitious. You can always improve and extend later (like I did, too). Check who's land your planning to build on and ask for permission. Basic tools (axe, knife, saw) are sufficient. Maybe a bit of natural cordage. I didn't use nails whatsoever in my build. Maybe learn about some basic knots. Not that I know any, but it sure is useful xD Take care about nature, don't use living trees for your build. Hope I could help, be sure to keep me updated on your build (Instagram: @justrandompfusch)

How do you prevent water from seeping in under the tarp and wetting the inside of the hut?
@JustRandomPfusch
@JustRandomPfusch 3 жыл бұрын
There's a layer of stones behind the walls to divert the water and preserve the logs from rotting. The walls do get damp, but it's not too bad. The tarp also expands over the walls about 1m in each direction

Easier said than done, can we just appreciate good craftsmanship when we see it? This fort is pretty bad ass, it has a bed, a oven, and an actual roof...not many people can say they’ve made something like this, hand tools or not.
@joelbellJB
@joelbellJB 4 жыл бұрын
@@revenant_renesis6439 I’m not commenting on the craftsmanship, it’s fine. I’m talking about the decision to not dig down another foot and half. Again if you’re gonna go through the trouble why not make it comfortable? I’ve done plenty of digging and building in my time and it’s not a big deal.
