My first kiss Was last year, it never got past a first date because I was uncomfortable with feelings of affection. I have really bad intimacy issues in the sense where I don’t ever think that anyone can be attracted to me (which is totally not true) but he kissed me and I realized I definitely wanted more

I didn’t think i would ever find anyone and was honestly starting to just accept it (which is why i didn’t talk to anyone for a year and a half). BUT i was getting pretty lonely so i just wanted to branch out a little and see what happened. I know this isn’t super helpful, but honestly meeting my boyfriend helped me. He grounded me in a way that helped me figure out why i was feeling the way I did and made me want to overcome it. If you know you want to love someone, you will. I think it really does come down to the person. having a really strong emotional connection to my bf made me feel more safe overcoming my intimacy issues.

Also, because my intimacy issues stemmed from christianity, i was able to unlearn (a little) and feel more comfortable being intimate. this made it a little easier for me to branch out because I knew that my fears were developed out of false, sin shaming narratives from the church. understanding where my trauma came from definitely didn’t eliminate these fears, but it helped a little. and i think taking it one step at a time is the only way to get better. thinking about getting to the end of the race before you begin makes you hesitant to start. or at least it does for me. I really just think it gets better with time and if you’re with the right person. If you need anything you can DM me on insta!

hi!! so i think i got really lucky because I’m usually very anxious around anyone new but my bf was just different?? I think if you’re able to find the right person it might be easier to go into a relationship with anxiety. I also think I just got lucky because I was in a better time period (mental health wise) when meeting him. But in terms of meeting people, I really thought bumble helped. If you’re wanting to pursue a straight relationship, the girl initiates the conversation. (like after y’all match only the girl can reach out first). I felt like that gave me a little more control which helped.
