Excellent! The overhead shots are really useful. That's probably the best way to see the flight path and nobody does that. Really well done. Something which has helped me understand Turn vs Fade is that Turn is high speed stability and Fade is low speed stability. So a disc with a 7 3 -2 4 Has a turn of -2 and a fade of 4 which means that while it's travelling fast, it will tend to turn to the right because of the -2. But as it slows down it will fade back hard to the left because of the 4 fade. So if I don't throw the disc hard enough to get it to it's suggested speed rating, I'll never see that turn because I never got it up to it's high speed behavior. This is why distance drivers thrown too softly by newbies like me will hook so hard to the left. We never got it into it's high speed behavior so it immediately goes into it's low speed fade behavior and fades left.

I heard something similar about turn and fade, but it had to do more with how fast the disc was spinning?

Nice work fellas. There’s a hundred videos explaining turn and fade but they all over explain the physics and it overshadows the simple basics. 9/10 people that bail on a new hobby do so because there’s too much information being thrown at them at the beginning.

This makes so much sense now. I was learning how to throw forehand with a slower and understable driver than usual. I thought it was my forehand technique but I was really just expecting the understable disc to fly like a stable one.

It is truly a right-handed world, friends. As a lefty, I'm pretty used to having to translate and mirror terms like "finish to the left," but it'd be nice if people in the Disc Golf world used the terms "Front Side" and "Back Side" instead of Left and Right.

My second year doing this.. last year I just threw with no regard for what those numbers mean. This year I’m paying more attention to flight paths and how those numbers affect it. Yesterday I started using a West Side tursas (turn -2 fade 1). I was throwing it 20 feet farther than my distance driver. I’m guessing due to the beginner flaws in my throwing combined with it being a more under stable and lower fade disc.

i just got back into DG this past year and feeling like I am finding my groove in the sport. Weirdly enough I find it much easier for me to throw understable drivers and midranges. So I’m a left hand back hand thrower. If I throw an understable disc will it go to the left? I assume it’s the opposite because the rotation of the disc is the opposite too
@RippinDiscs4 жыл бұрын
Yes so everything is just flipped when your a lefty! Your forehand throws will be the same as a right hand back hand throw.
@Battlefox64_RL2 жыл бұрын
I'm new to the disc golf scene but why are we using terms like under/over "STABLE"?!? Correct me if I'm misunderstanding but this has nothing to do with stability lol an understood flight path of a disc to pull left or right at the end of its toss, makes little sense to use a descriptive term like "over/under stable" I'm really trying to learn more and get into this sport because I think it is a lot of potential but I'm having trouble understanding a lot of the terminology because it's so far-fetched.
@lid33 Жыл бұрын
So someone pls answer this question for me. If I’m left handed is a under-stable disc going to do the opposite it would if I was right handed? I’m still a bit confused by that tbh
@robinmclean72034 жыл бұрын
Fave Drivers Forehand. RHFH-OS: Firebird (duh). RHFH-Stable Star Wraith/Destroyer RHFH-US Star Beast. I can only get up to a fairway drive backhand, so RHBH-OS None. RHBH-Stable: -Star Beast/Valk. RHBH-US Z-GLide/Starlite Mamba.

Are the numbers the same if you're throwing sidearm or are they opposite? And is everything opposite of what you said if you're throwing sidearm?
@RippinDiscs4 жыл бұрын
Hey yes they are, but what you can find is if you throw faster with a side arm the numbers could become more in effect to your arm speed, and yes it is just flipped effect for the side compared to right hand back hand
@studiowizard62864 жыл бұрын
@@RippinDiscs OK, thanks!! Really useful video! You might consider doing a sidearm video discussing the numbers and over, under, and stable as it relates to sidearm. That would be a very interesting video!
