After getting a bit more development, Sojourn actually reminds me a lot of Ahsoka. A kind, lawful person who will do anything to help others, and won’t think twice about the life they are giving up. But skeptical of the organization they once helped to uphold. Which is insane to me because I adore the type of character, but we’ve had Sojourn for almost a year without any of her personality being elaborated on.

The problem is her type of character- subtle and clever while possessing charismatic leadership- is hard to write into a game like Overwatch. That's really the primary issue most people have with her- her characteristics aren't in your face so most can't define her. She isn't overt like Cass or dramatic like Reaper. She fills a much more quiet niche where her only way to shine would be in a pve narrative and... well. A similar comparison would be 76 who was also deemed an extremely charismatic leader, but you never see any elements of that either. Even with special dialogue in his Strike Commander skin, it comes across as awkward or aloof.

@@akkikoIm happy someone else gets it. Her personality isn’t like Rein or tracer. She’s not written to be a very in your face, type character. The issue however, is that writing this character in a game like overwatch, where most characters are exaggerated and over the top, makes her seem flat in comparison. And it’s especially hard because she does have some similarities to characters like Soldier. People have said Venture feels the most like an overwatch character, and I can’t really fault them for that because, personality wise, she fits in very easily alongside the rest of the cast. I wish they gave Sojourn a bit more priority as a developed character, specifically when it comes to the voice interactions and lines she gets. I like her a lot, but a lot of the fanbase doesn’t seem to care much for her outside of functionality. Which is a shame. I think if her voice lines got a bit of a Rehaul she could be just as interesting, while still being a fairly reserved and logical character.

This is easily the best written and best directed short they've made, and it's not even close. There's really no wasted dialog, no character assassination, and plenty of little show-don't-tell moments that lets the audience infer a much larger picture of Sojourn's character, and even the agent she's talking to. The one-handed press check was mint. I'd watch a miniseries about Tremblay's CSIS unit rooting out an evil robot conspiracy in Toronto.

This is exactly why they need to do more animated shorts. Real ones like this not the 2D ones, one for each character. Then some more with multiple characters. Then do something like Arcane and maybe a movie eventually
