Its the Hashimoto clan in both cinematics. Not sure how important that guy in particular is to the story of the area, but the inclusion in this short was likely to create the intentional link betweent the two in the story.

NieR Automata is getting an anime adaptation as well. Considering how big Overwatch 1 was, the brand new Overwatch 2, and how talented blizzard's animators are....I think an animated show is already in production but they just haven't announced it yet. Its definitely the right business move.

In case anyone missed it, the Hashimoto guy who calls for back up on the phone is a direct call back to the Hanzo and Genji Short. That's what I have been saying. She would benefit big time from having her own mini-series. The show would be mainly CGI, but I could also see short, narrated flashbacks be done with anime-style art. But I also have a bad feeling that Talon comes in to take Kanezaka once the Hashimoto are cleared out.
