Overwatch 2 Competitive on Console Might Be Saved

Blizzard has finally decided to fully address the Ximming issue which has been plaguing console lobbies since Overwatch 1. I hope that this new system can detect all Xims & there is no way to counter it by the annoying company that allegedly does not count this as cheating. There have been a bunch of companies that have come out & said that if you use a xim to use a mouse & keyboard then you are cheating. The other annoying part is that these people are so pathetic that they BM after a few Elims, this is more prominent in Siege from what I've seen. So here is me hoping for a better comp system & better comp experience overall once all these cheaters are dealt with.

I quit console due to smurfing and xims but better 6 years late than never (assuming they actually properly ban these clowns)

Yea I'm hoping that this ban carries over to the actual companies banning this hardware since xbox can actually detect them already.

Perma banned all mouse and keyboard would lose everyone a lot of money, blizzard would lose a large section of the most cashed up player base, xbox would have ximmers cancel xbox game pass and move to playstation or pc. Plus the xim emulates a controller so there is no way to detect them without also getting a lot of flase positives, newer updates simulate analog behaivour now after siege pushed a lot of them out. Its not really a solvable problem

Microsoft can already detect the xim devices, so I'm sure other companies will be able to build the same anti cheats or whatever software they use to detect them. There are a lot of Ximmers but they are not the majority of the console population so banning them wont be an issue.

Know how they should handle ximming? By giving the other team improved aim assist when one is detected, crossplay or not.

That could work but banning the ximmer mid match or not allowing them to do any damage might be a better alternative.

I think it might be a bit harder for them to do but it's definitely possible but they may not want to pay their employees enough for them to care for PC cheaters.

They wont perma ban cause the old seasons top 500 leaderboard will be almost empty. It would expose how bad it is.

They said if they continue after the first ban then they will start doing permanent bans, also it wouldnt be smart of them to not perma ban since itll bring them more players.

@fabian4134 they already said they will implement it next season & will ban anyone who was ximming the day after they posted blog. It'll probably bring them more players if they do that so it wouldnt be smart of them to not keep their word.
