Don't ever ask for heals on coms please, As a healer this information is useless, just hit the button in game! we get sound cues and a nice wall hack icon border that pops up around you. Pushing that "Need heals" Hotkey is WORLDS more useful when needing heals vs yelling on coms "Heal me!!!!"

Typing it in chat for heals? I don't know how far that will get them, I agree some people will just spam the button even when heals are not needed, I'll ask them not to spam it, failing that I will just not heal them. But I must say that in game call for a heal is so much help if you need heals and to get my attention, The sound cue in the voice of the char and the border they get is 100% more helpful than random voice with the mic in their mouth asking for a heals.

Hey Sty, thank you so much for picking my video! I watched it once before I sent it, but now seeing it while listening to your perspective, opened my eyes to some of the stupid things I'm used to doing :) I would've loved to hear you see my usual/better play and cheekiness (I love flanking and trick shots!), and have some fun comments about it, but whatever :D Keep it up, I wish you the best! Hero, out! P.S. yesterday I actually deleted the game... I got sick of the trolls, leavers and the unbelievable point distribution (game with troll = -40 points, game with 3 gold medals = 10 points...). I'm going to come back probably after the next patch and experience the new Hog :) But if things remain the same, probably my next game would be Season 4 and hopefully Blizzard would actually do something about Overwatche's ranked problems!

I was Gold once (2 weeks approximately before this video) and I gotta say, having 5 gold medals (yeah including heal :D) and POTG is not that difficult :) People generally tend to move and cooperate better in higher ranks like Diamond, which makes Roadhog's job waaaay more difficult... still I played badly this game I know, that's why I sent it to Sty :)

a tip for landing the hook: its like a delayed hitscan. from the moment roadhog reaches out with his arm, its so fast that you pretty much hit where you aim in that moment. so dont predict so much but rather track your enemies from the moment you press till the hook lands.

I see a lot of people trying to "roast" this roadhog, in my opinion this is the equivalent of people yelling at the TV while watching sports games saying. "You should have done this you idiot!" well, it's much easier saying what they should have done/making fun of them while watching the video than actually doing that in game. When you're playing your mind doesn't fully focus on the actions of yourself, it's partial towards focusing on the positioning of your teammates, where your enemy is, and finally- what you should be doing. So saying this guy is "dog shit" or "garbage" isn't necessarily fair. This is why you should do like what sty does and actually record yourself so you can criticize your work and improve yourself, but if this guy is wanting another person's set of eyes to review his games, we shouldn't be overly critical/rude towards him. Let's give some tips and kind suggestions so we can have a ton of great, kind players up here in Grandmasters! :) Cheers!

What I've learned from multiple KZbin Overwatch players is that you need to track the enemy when you're aiming the hook. The hook is not a projectile and is considered "delayed hit scan". Track the enemy as if you're playing Soldier, Tracer or Sombra, and you will land more hooks! Also, I have found that faster movements with the mouse while trying to hook as opposed to being too careful and too precise when throwing the hook is better. Be fast with the movement while tracking the enemy!

Hey, just want to say thanks for the advice videos. After watching them and practicing in quick play for awhile, I went back to competitive yesterday and brought my score 2199 (my career high at the time) to 2704 by today and hope to get to 3000 before the season end. It may not be an amazing score, but I never thought I'd get out of gold, so I'm happy.

At 15:20 or so, I would've said get that Soldier in hook range and take him out, then I saw the rein round the corner, so it's a moot point in that situation. I do think that Sty missed out on mentioning Roadhog's third job, which is to look out for the people who grab the high ground and punish them for it, otherwise they'll punish your team for letting them get the high ground, it was touched upon, but McCree wasn't the only one who could stop it. The high ground is great for McCree, Roadhog, Phara, 76 and Bastion, (not to mention the snipers, but they're not generally your job) it gives them free range on the enemy, but it also puts them out in the open, where you can hook them into your team and make their job harder.

Tip for Roadhog hook accuracy: Use the smaller circle crosshair, which IMO makes it easier to land hooks, and also makes it easier to one shot people both with right click and after hook. You just have to place the small circle in the middle of the squishies body after hook, and a little higher on the tanks, to do max damage.

A tip for Herowar (you already mentioned it) Aim your hooks more carefully. If you put some effort into aiming your hooks, you will hit a lot more of them. Take your time and aim them carefully.

The only think I don't like about these videos is how much you pause them. Like you crisis this player for going down the steps for a hook and pause it for 30 sec then he dose it again and you do the same thing. And when he does it a again you say it like you are trying to tell a kid not to touch a stove because it's hot then he will go and do it anyway. Repeat this process with different scenarios for the whole video and you turn a 10 min game into a 30 min game where you just say the same things over and over again. Advise: First time someone does something wrong pause and elaborate. Then the next few times they do it keep the video playing and just have a quick mention of it. To me it seems like you forget these are pre-recorded and when you say something once you expect it to be changed all game.

As a Roadhog main I actually dont usually hook, left click then melee because i cant use my gun as soon as i could if i had not meleed. I only do it when i either dont have any ammo left or its a low health hero and i melee just to confirm a kill that i probably already have

one thing i like doing as hog is going for a reactive hook when rein throws a fire strike. not sure if i can get away with it in higher ranks though, but i do get an easy pick when rein throws his fire strike

In reference to this video, yeah, this Roadhog has to really work on their hooks. Not only did they miss most of them, but they didn't even get kills on most of the ones they landed, their team finishing off the few that did die. Playing 3v3 with Roadhog helped me a lot in hook accuracy. No payloads or points to capture/contend, just pure fishing. And always remember the Hog VS Hog surefire tactic. Goad them into hooking you, take the hit so you can fire a pointblank shot into them, then hook them and fire again with aid from the stun. I haven't lost a Hog battle in ages.

6:48 This is kinda arguable among the high skill roadhog players because they admit that the turnig around while healing is not necessary in every situation and i can agree with them. the thing with turing around is really helpful for avoiding getting critically hit while being a stationary target but there's no need for that in this certian moment because there were no enemies that could headshot roadhog. obviously there were rein and zarya in the front lines as every tank should do but none of them can inflict double damage upon a headshot.Btw. I also have this bad habbit of turning around when there's no one to headshot me, so this turning tactic is more complicated and situation dependent so what i like to do in order to get the maximum efficency from performing it is to have a look on the killfeed or the general positioning of the enemy without losing sight of my team(like peaking a corner or just knowing where their dps went; maybe flankers or whatever). doing this in the very early teamfight must eventually give you an advantage in the mid to end (while still giving a damn about deaths, respawns and positioning in general). The point i want to arrive at is the negative factor of performing it when not needed. It really cuts your visual connection with the fight and clear enemy movement (you can still hear them but it's not as common) and in every (usually) moment that you start healing it will trigger an instinct for the enemy dps to fire at you just for easily building ult charge or even making their lifes easier on taking you out of the game by outdamaging the incoming heal but this will mainly happen when you are not very good positioned and they cut you off by damaging you heavily and forcing to heal no matter what and while having no protection form your loving team (healers and tanks will be the key roles to keep you alive in this unpleasent time but even e dps like soldier would help by providing support fire along with the biotic field to cover you up). So the final point of this comment is that sometimes you have to judge weather it's more important to prevent some damage or have a constant look on the battle.This is still arguable though. I know my comment is extremely long but this are just my thoughts on this extremely basic thing that roadhog players do! I hope my comment was helpful and you got my idea over this. im roadhog main in diamond too and i always take like a sec. to aim my hook because when you miss the hook against a DD or an flanker they normally gonna kill you or deal a lot of damage to you and nice roadhog coaching/guide

I am sorry stylosa, but at 25:18, it is very obvious that he did not think "Lemme just hook through that barrier" but a slow reaction to the barrier coming up, we are talking .2 seconds between barrier coming up and hook being thrown. It's fine that you point it out, but don't make him dumber than he is.
