Funnily enough (and idk if they fixed this) but petting them at both at the same time use to not give the achievement. You had to pet them one after the other lol. Was weird you had to sacrifice their speak with animals dialogue for the achievement

@@tonyliu6749 No, it was a known issue. If you got the achievement as depicted in the video, it means they fixed it. Before they fixed it, entering this cutscene with Speak With Animals active would not give the achievement - though that was the version that has you pet both at the same time. The non-talk-with-animals version actually awarded the achievement, but your character would only pet one at a time.

Speak with Animals is like, the best subclass (aka ritual, you know what i mean) in this game. (clearly owlbear and scratch). But the rats, the cats, Birbs, Cows. Speak with animals makes the game so much more dynamic, its clear they put a lot of work into it. :)

Some animals IRL do have parent-induced child mortality like that, more often when going through rough times. The owlbear cub’s comment that his mom ate his brother would seem pretty normal to a Tasmanian Devil, too, were it not for the language barrier.

when you decide to keep the owlbear cub, gale warns you that it WILL grow big, teeth and talons first. and i'm like, "shut up, i'm keeping him." it's like a parent lecturing their kid lmao

And then once he's full grown you can sort of silently gloat to Gale by making it clear that as deadly as he is at that point, he's still just as loyal as ever. I can just imagine Gale's response being something like: *Player:* **smug grin** *Gale:* "....Very well. I concede the point. Deadly he may be, he's clearly not going to disembowel us in our sleep....or at least he won't disembowel *you* in your sleep. The rest of us? Who knows?" :P

I love how scratch is like the goodest boy ever, he fetches you items loves getting pet and if you do use a speak with animals potion he’s still quite polite and kind. And then owlbear cub is just kinda a menace lol he eats a ton of food even for his stout size, and while incredibly loyal and sweet to you for saving him, he’s still kinda a rapscallion that the rest of the group is like “hey isn’t this wildly dangerous to try domesticate this thing?” lol

The fact is that the owlbear cub is still totally loyal to you. So imagine once he's fully grown. Like if a group of bandits tries to rob you, only for your now full-grown owlbear "son" to start tearing them limb from limb for threatening his mommy/daddy....and then proudly walking up to you looking for headpats once he's done! XD

@@gamester512 that’s what I did with my paladin. Once the story was over I had myself and shadowheart adopt owl bear and scratch to accompany us on the rest of our adventures. Honestly that’s a pretty sick group for adventuring so it works kinda perfectly in the epilogue that you can adopt both of them permanently. Or at least in my head canon you do😂

I don't understand the hype for Astarion. He's okay on the eyes and has some amusing lines - but his character is so pompous/arrogant. Lae'zel's prickly attitude, Karlach's easy going nature and Gale's awkward dorkiness are far better sells to me than the arrogant vampire.

Regardless of what play through I’m doing (good, evil, bloodthirsty homicide) I draw the line at harming children or cute animals. I refuse to do either. I have yet to have either try to attack me so this likely won’t change. Besides, because I knew the mother owlbear had a cub I refused to attack her. The cub still ended up with me though cuz the goblins apparently killed her.

Owlbear is an absolute unit in the fights. If you've used Moon Druid to wildshape as an Owlbear you'll see just how threatening he is, except he's got permanent rage going

I missed the cub on my first run because i just spared both the mother and the cub and backed off. By the time i went back goblins had killed the mother and the cub was gone. I looked up that you can find the cub at the goblin camp, but i had already killed everyone there and found no cub. Sad. Next playthrough for sure.

I did the same thing except i went to the owl bear cave after killing the goblins. Spared the mother and dipped. A few long rests later and the owlbesr came to my camp but Shadowheart scared him away. A few more long rests later and he stayed permanently

Not in my game. You can persuade the mom to let you go instead of fighting her. The goblins will kill her instead and still bring the cub to camp, where you can adopt the cub like normal.
