I just started my second run 3 days ago, and i wanted to force myself to do an evil runthrough... even went Dark Urges. I was doing pretty well until it came time to betraying the tieflings in the Emerald Grove. Wyll and Karlach left me after the initial fight, and as the goblins started slaughtering the civilians... nope. Nope nope nope. I'm out. I reckon the reason cleric is the least played class is because players have Shadowheart. She's much harder to get rid of than the other companions, she carries an important story item you cant take and she's attractive. Most players have a reason to bring her along and thus dont need two clerics

I think the gith race has honestly some of the best benefits. You get mage hand, a psyionic jump 3x of your normal jump and a free misty step all on short rest and the Astral knowledge is amazing to help with lacking proficiencies of your choosing.

@@Tinil0 Firstly, no. Secondly from which perspective? Shadowheart has the worst personality and dialogue-wise it's either her or Wyll that are worst. Combat-wise Shadowheart is very important, unless of course you have a players as a cleric, in which case she is completely and utterly useless. Even then Astarion is very easily built with any number of stealth archer based builds and hits some of the highest damage output out of any NPC. His dialogue is top-tier, his reactions and quips are amazing, he works on both good and evil aligned play throughs, he has his own great story to run through, and he's a very interesting a deep character one you get close enough to him to break down those walls of charisma he uses to protect himself.

@@_lime. Shadowheart hates violence and loves children. Astarion just loves being evil. He is more shallow than a puddle that is Lae'zel. Even his redemption arc is closer to damage mitigation than changing one's ways. The scene is still hard to watch. The spawn doesn't deserve this kind of a warrior's death. In the Underdark, there is a conveniently placed garden gnome that accepts Astarion as a sacrifice.

look into berserker barbarian and eldritch knight fighter multiclass if you like throwing literally anything at anyone. EK fighters get any weapon automatically returned that they throw, and heavier weapons do heavier throw dmg. Plus tavern brawler = good times. Plus thief rogue for the extra bonus action and you’ll be throwing hard like 4 times per rage turn, it’s absurd 3 EK, 3 thief, 6 zerker, tavern brawler, savage attacks, half orc (more crit dmg)… incredible.

i like visiting the blighted village after asterion tells me he’s a vampire because the game doesn’t really have another line for him, so he still pretends he didn’t feast on that boar. kinda comes across like he’s embarrassed

Honestly my biggest shock was just how many people played as paladins, didn't expect that to be so crazy popular. Also didn't expect wizards, pretty much THE stereotypical DND class, to be so low. I assume cleric's were so rare because Shadowheart exists, can't really be re-specced to a new class without her story seeming super weird and clerics generally aren't super versatile

I'm playing a githyanki War Cleric in my main co-op game and he whips so much ass. Cleric is incredible fun. Between using Click Heels alongside Spirit Guardians to act as a living lawnmower, body-blocking chokepoints with Sanctuary, and pretty much smiting dudes with early Silver Sword of the Astral Plane, there's so much to do and so many ways to approach encounters. I love this class, man. And githyanki are such a bastard powerful race.

Haha, I made a Githyanko Cleric and did everything Lae'zel wanted to do. I see all these articles about how people are figuring out you can recruit Minthara if you attack the druids--but I'm the only person I know who found out that you can recruit Minthara in the second act if you don't kill her, even if you didn't attack the druids. We booked it to the créche.
