As a Moto Guzzi owner, I fully agree with Yammie. A huge part of the reason I bought it was precisely the fact that it has a weird engine, shakes like it's 1950, and no one knows anything about the company (even though it's been around for over a century). But he should have picked on the electrical system, not the engine. The engine is bulletproof.

My motorcycle, a 2005 Sportster 1200 Roadster, says "Hey, our service technician is here!" I bought it new in 2005, and put 50,000 miles on it in the first 3 years. It currently has 82,000 miles on it. It replaced the 1982 GS850G that I'd had for many years. The reason why the miles per year dropped off is because one of my clients hired me at the end of 2008 and the 500 mile days ended. The bike has done everything expected of it.

Having ridden the Meteor 350. I have to say that it's a very pleasant ride, comfortable, and has a slick gear change. Would I like to take one on a long trip on the freeway ? Absolutely not. It isn't fast enough for me. But for riding through town, and the odd trip on back roads. It's perfectly adequate. Why spend Harley money on something you are almost never going to take above 60mph anyway ? It's called a cruiser for a reason.
@KevinSmith-qi5yn2 жыл бұрын
Why not take it on the freeway? You get to have the joy of being tail gated the entire time.

I bought one and except for the interstate, which I detest driving on anyway, I can go the speed limit anywhere else in style and comfort at 90-100 MPG for 4500 bucks and 70 bucks for year insurance. And my opportunities to kill myself are reduced by like 90% ( *made up stat* ) so its basically a no brainer. Also I'm old and I don't care.
@x-man5056 Жыл бұрын
Because a Harley can ride around town AND on the freeway? There is a lot of territory between Meteor 350 and almost any Harley. You look like a grown man. Get a 450 or larger. Triumph Bonneville's are significantly less than Harleys but still have some grunt to them. 900 and 1200 cc.
@cyclone4117 ай бұрын
Here's a reply 2 years late. Test rode a Hunter 350 - it's shockingly better than the Meteor 350 even though the engine is the same. The tune and the exhaust are different and it's actually possible to accelerate in 5th gear. Also more confortable seat.

sv650 is dated, but that might be a good thing for a beginner. good ergonomics, good handling, it's got that rider assist to help from stalling. a beginner has to learn how to juggle multiple tasks with both legs and both hands. sv650 is perfect for someone to learn those things, and you won't outgrow it as quickly as a 300. definitely a bike to keep and pass down.

I did have a Suzuki Dr-Z 400 SM for about 5 years. And it did have aftermarket levers. But context is everything. In the US, I would definitely prefer a KTM. But I don't live in the US. I live in Kyoto, Japan. Here, traffic is congested AF. Even though I now ride a Yamaha MT-09 Tracer, I would still take my old DR-Z 400 in an A to B race anywhere in Kyoto. It was high, light, narrow, and had more than enough power in a tight traffic environment. It was a genuine urban assault vehicle. On an open road, my Tracer would flat smoke it. But I don't ride on open roads very often. Some days, I still miss the 400.

This vid isn't about bikes, it's about identity - persona and self-image. Taking a ktm690 down and up stairs isn't as fun. Pay 2x the price on a bike your going to drop isn't fun. It may help you fantasize about being a real racer, but it is just way in the way to do even minor maintenance IMO. I went for the sv650 because my first bike was a ninja 500 and I wanted something similar, but more. And I didn't get a test ride because dealers just couldn't keep used stock at the time. Just glad I got the A instead of the X.

How dare you even let the name Harley Davidson come from your lips. My REAL man's bike is the best. It runs down my neighbors scooter. It leaves the local loggers and mining trucks at the stops. Fatbob life son! Wooooot woooooot. Keep these up Yammie. Loving it.

Weirdly I have more old people talk to me when I'm riding my Street Triple than when I'm riding my Bonneville.

It’s a fantastic technology that makes motorcycles more accessible, but in a country of automatic cars, I really hope it doesn’t become the majority of motorcycles.

You wouldn't know, of course, but Guzzis can be both italian AND reliable. My V7 stone gave me ZERO problems! Just put gas and check tire pressure.

First time I saw a yamaha mt07 I thought it was really ugly. Now I think its one of best looking 🤷🏻♂️ Tastes change and some bikes take a while to get used to.

Regarding Triumph Bonneville.. this is one bike you can buy brand new and don’t have to worry much about theft while keeping it in the big city.

Just curious, during bloopers when you bust up laughing are you with other people in a studio? Or are you by yourself in your bedroom with a David Letterman mic that you polish everyday?

Moto Guzzi v7's are reliable, no oil leaks or jokes about Italian quality, sorrie Yammie, Moto Guzzi Noobie. But you can make jokes about how slow they are and how only old and retired people ride them. Regards - V7 Racer owner.
