Until battery technology gets a lot better, I have no interest in buying any electric vehicle. Btw, a lot of people don’t mention this, but mining for lithium is extremely dirty. But, there are many reasons to stay away from electric…for now.

ALL mining is dirty. All manufacture is dirty. You think fracking for oil to keep a combustion powered car working isn't dirty?

Lobbyists from the oil industry and internal combustion vehicle parts suppliers paid for all the misinformation, the sowing seeds of doubt, and this is the result. Having now lived with an EV for 4.5 years I can confidently declare this: If you are in the market for a car today (new or used) and you have a dedicated parking space that a power cord will reach, you would be crazy to not buy an EV. The money you save in maintenance, repair, and fuel costs is ridiculous!

One fact that probably was not being considered on these stats is that we have more people with BEV or PHEV cars nowadays, so they are no longer looking for electric cars. How would be the stats removing them from the scenario?

Good question. Our data shows that EV interest has dropped, but interest in PHEVs and hybrids has gone up. But the main barriers to EV adoption, according to AutoTrader's data, are price and range. -Jodi

It’s funny, if you look at old footage of large cities the air quality now is much better than it was (believe it or not). As we switch to a higher percentage of EV and PHEV vehicles our air quality will continue to improve. Unfortunately, Ev’s don’t meet everyone’s needs and pocketbook at this point. Eventually, the switch to EV’s and PHEV’s would mean a lifestyle switch.

Phev is the way to go. I been driving the preowned phev 2016 Chevy Volt for almost 6 years. 99% of the time electric mode. 53 miles (85km) electric range.

EVs are ugly and expensive, why would I want to buy an iphone on wheels, when Japan is making the anime hybrid sport cars of my dreams? Not to mention Porsche is developing zero emission fuel.
