I have the low top version of the moab ventilator. Best shoes I ever owned BY FAR!! Next shoes I buy will be Merrells for sure.

One day I was walking on a wet floor and noticed they weren't slippery. So when I wore them out I got another pair after walking in them a little over 1,000 miles. This time I sized up and added 2 insoles. Although, they're comfortable, I wanted mine extra comfortable.

My Moabs seem more durable than my All Out Blazes because they're leather. My All out Blaze Aero Sport is 100% synthetic. The All Out Blaze Aero Sport is like a foot massage for my feet. They fit more snuggly around the sides with plenty of toe space. The Moab vents feel slightly larger (despite both being size 6) and will probably need thicker socks. It also has more toe protection than the Aero Sport. Looks wise, I like them both. Update: The traction of Vibram soles in wet conditions has been criticised by many people. Some claim it caused them to slip and fall. I don't know if this is just in cold weather when the rubber could stiffen or if it's even in mild weather. Last year's Ugg Adirondak boots had the Vibram soles but Ugg replaced them with Spider Rubber soles which they say maintains traction better in cold and wet conditions. The caveat is that Spider Rubber will wear out quicker than Vibram.

There's a low-cut moab ventilator, how about that as a compromise?

I agree with the moab ventilator having sturdier upper material and they are very comfortable to wear. The ventilator variant is also lighter compared to the waterproof variant of the moab line.

the all out blaze is a very small drop which makes them more comfortable and natural foot positioning

The Ventilators look great for kayaking. Have you worn them in the water much? Do they drain and dry well? Does the mesh keep the dirt out on silty trails?

ventilators wont stand water, you need the waterproof or the even better Goretex version

How would the ventilator work in winter? Too cold and breezy? Or, would it be better to get the waterproof?

I'm a big fan sp far of the Moab 2 Ventalator. The only thing is in a dusty dryer climate dust and dirt get in through the mesh. My feet were black when i took a shower. But they are the most comfortable boot I've used. Get thw Moab 2 low top!

I wear boots when I need boots and shoes when I need shoes. Translation: in summer months I pretty much live in Merrell Trail Gloves. Uber light, like wearing a sock with lateral support and Vibram tread. Try a pair. They feel odd at first and then there's no going back. Until you need a boot again. Everything else is just somewhere in between and compromises in some way. For me its one or the other extreme.

All these "reviewers' miss commenting on the materials them shoes are made with....modern Merrills are made of cheap plastic....the day the old classic Merrill ventilators run out and we forced to buy the "new" ones.....that's all she rode....

Its so funny that you got the low version for vanity and not because there are times when you need a shoe with less ankle support. Ha Ha Ha !
