How is the state convicting Ethan and saying he doesn’t have any mental health issues but then these exact same prosecutors that are charging Ethan’s parents saying it was clear he had mental health issues and they should have been able to foresee something happening. The prosecutors said the parents ignored his repeated calls for mental health help but yet here they have someone on the stand to say he acted in a clear mind and had no mental health issues. This is just gross!!!

Your the reason I came to the comments, this boy begged and begged his mom for help, he kept saying he was going to to harm himself or others he wanted to see a Doctor, but the Mom refused him because she couldn't pay for a Doctor and her precious horses , so her answer was to go out and buy him a 9 mm gun with bullets. On the day of the shooting Mom and Dad were called into the school for his bad behavior so clearly he waited just wanting their attention and the school wanted the parents to take him home but instead they chose to out the principal and leave the there.. Unfortunately because of Mom's actions or lack of many people lost their lives and many others lives were changed forever 😢 I don't always agree with people when they want to blame the parents but in this case I very much agree with you and we can only pray that Mom and Dad do jail time because they definitely deserve it. Having raised 5 children, 3 adopted special needs boys, and now raising 2 15-year-old grandsons, I find an overarching denial of Ethan's brain development, grief, and poor parenting. He was denied help months ago and on the day of the shooting. He did not steal the gun ; guns were a welcome part of family life in his home, It was the one thing his parents gave him positive attention. His teachers were blind, and the counselors were even less helpful. We are a country full of school shootings. It is far from a new and different event. There were so many signs and other cases to learn from, but they did not take Ethan's distress seriously. Nor is the court system- I refrain from calling it a justice system- treating him like the child he is. Of course, he can be rehabilitated if given love, guidance, therapy, and meaningful training/education, God help these " adults" who have the power to oppress and control the vulnerable.

Amen!!! 16:32 I have encountered numerous psychiatrists who are clueless. This Doctor isn’t grasping the totality of Ethan’s level of functioning. He wasn’t capable of ADLs (13 cavities due to lack of brushing) and I’m confident he had issues with IADLs. Hence, his extreme anxiety about his future. This Doctor doesn’t get it. It angers me that our mental health system is so broken. This kid is begging for help. This is another failure. Parents, educational system, and now the medical field. THANK GOD I didn’t rely on the inept “experts” and didn’t give up until I found a competent Doctor. For anyone struggling as you seek for competent mental health care please don’t give your power away. Advocate for your children. Don’t give up!!! Thank you, Ma’am for being a conscious, compassionate, and empathetic Soul❣️ As a society, we MUST do better!!! Education and awareness are paramount!!! 💔

One thing that is extremely relevant is this case: the defense did not go for a defense of not guilty by reason of insanity. Defense, either your client is insane with a chance of rehabilitation or he isn’t. You yourself said he was in this position because of untreated mental illness. Then why didn’t you go with the defense of not guilty by reason of insanity? I believe the reason why is because you as a defender, could NOT win. There really is such a thing as pure evil.

When I first started watching this, I was just not sure if he should have parole or not. I was undecided. Watching him sitting there I did feel bad for him. However, when they started showing and talking about the torture of theses baby birds, I was shocked and also sickened. This is a young man, who will absolutely become a serial killer! IMO - he went over the edge by doing what he did to the birds ! If he can do this and actually enjoy it…… we’ll he has gone over the edge , he has gone to far, he can’t go back, he can’t change what he did. He will become a serial killer eventually, this is another Jeffery Dahmer! He should not get out. He has felt what it was like to torture birds, he liked it! He can’t change those feelings! The only thing that will change is that he will be older, stronger, and much more capable of killing. He will learn things in jail that will just help him become a smarter serial killer. 😢

The what ifs are numerous in this case. Ethan parents are despicable. Even if the shooting didn’t happen the scars of that type of neglect are tremendous. The same evidence that shows this was planned, shows the lack of awareness, care, responsibility of his family and community. In general we don’t see neglect documented so clearly. What would have happened if he had received treatment? If his parents didn’t just yawn when he said he was hearing voices? If they took him to a doctor? If school counselors didn’t have thousands of kids to watch out? What if there was an awakening about guns? School shootings are not a thing in countries with strict gun laws. How many deaths per year until people agree to the fact that the second amendment is hurting? That is not normal that students and teachers have to have drills for shootings.., that the school years shouldn’t be lived with fear about guns…

It's not the gun, it's the person using the gun. Taking guns away from everyone is ridiculous. The second amendment is in place to help us as american citizens. It is there to protect us from a tyrantic government. Our country is in dire straights with our current government. Having the right to bear arms is one of the only things keeping our government from COMPLETE control over us (American Citizens). I agree guns should not be put in the hands of someone who is mentally unstable (like Mr. Crumbley).

@@iD3AD3YE by no means am I blaming the school for Ethan not having friends, yes the parents are to blame but the school counselor and the dean were in the room with the parent said that in the office on November 30 they knew he had a fascination with guns and that he was searching ammunition and you would’ve thought that what they saw on the paper they didn’t double check their work and say well just to be on the safe side. Let’s check Ethan‘s locker and backpack and the school counselor. Mr. Hopkins sent Ethan back to class because he felt like he was only a threat to himself not to other people, so the parents being not as great as they were they probably went off with a counselor said, and they felt that you know he made a great decision, so they went along with that.

I feel bad for an entire community who is still grieving. I feel bad for the students who are traumatized. I am sickened by the way this evil scumbag enjoyed watching people die. How much he looked forward to the media attention. The school didn’t create this monster. The school wanted his parents to take him home and to get psychiatric help the day of the murders. They thought he might be suicidal. On learning the parents were going to return to work, and thus leave him home alone, the school did not send him home. The parents agreed to get him help within 48 hours. The school had no idea the evil scumbag had a gun of his own. The Hispanic student was not the only student in Oxford high to ever have a locker search. Not saying there isn’t racism in this (my) community. You can’t argue, as this prosecution did, is 100% what is going to overturn one of the two verdicts, that Ethan isn’t mentally depressed or have any mental illness, & then argue against him being so mentally ill in the mothers trial. He was charged as an adult also & therefore, the courts will have a 2nd huge discretion, you don’t charge parents when the defense demands a defendant charged as an “adult”. I’ve gotta ask LYK these questions.

If EC had no access to a gun, it would have been a knife. The 9mm just made it easier to facilitate what he planned for months. His manifesto indicates he wanted to drown toddlers, rape a girl, and kill classmates. This was after he tortured and killed birds (with whatever tools he had at his disposal). Where there was a will, there was a way for EC; his need to feed off of his evil desires without trepidation or conscience but joy is a reflection of just how decrepit his heart is.
