I'm glad the judge did not feel he was rehabable ! My heart breaks for all the wounded that had to listen to these 3 women attorneys talk about him being a different person than he was 2 years ago. There are crimes where pleas for leniency constitute an additional assault on the victim and their families that is unacceptable, and therefore should not be heard in open court and at most should be submitted to the judge in writing.

These defense attorneys are ridiculous. Did Crumbley give leniency to any of his victims?? Nope. Had plenty of chances to stop and leave the school but did not. Had he harmed one of their loved ones, I wonder if they would've felt leniency was applicable in that case. I cannot wait until this slime gets in G.P. I truly hope he gets plenty of prison justice and lives daily in fear for his life.

There are so many people that have a tough time in school, but it doesn’t make it acceptable to go into that school and take it out on so many innocent students/Children. The crap these defence attorneys were coming out with was disgusting and horrible to listen too, it must have been distressing for the victims who survived and the parents who lost a child . The second attorney was the biggest joke reading a book that had no relevance whatsoever to the actions he chose the day he massacred all those children and the sentence he got was a just and fair one, at least he is still alive and gets to breathe air everyday. How much could those he killed have contributed to society in the future, like growing up and becoming a doctor to save lives in the E.R , or a scientist that may have found the cure for cancer, we will never know because he denied the world and those students that opportunity to have become worthy contributors to society.

The caseworker did ok, it's a really difficult to position to argue from. Does Ethan deserve respect because he's a human being? I would say he deserves his right to representation, I don't know whether he deserves respect. At that age you might not be aware of the long term consequences of your action, but you know if you pull a trigger at someone death is likely. The first attorney's decision to mention someone being kidnapped instantly made me think she was trying to blame the parents- who were nonetheless very problematic and negligent. I hope the parents suffer grave consequences too- they absolutely had a duty to know what was going on and intervene in this crime. My best guess is she was trying to caveat Ethan's interest in violent topics, but it was confusing and ineffective. The last speaker tried her best but it was ineffective, she was perhaps the best speaker. It's also kind of funny seeing people below decry someone who's facing a trial of having representation- yes even the guilty deserve representation!

My father used to abuse the hell out of me. My mom only stopped him because she was afraid he'd leave marks as he was beating me with a switch. Why? My little sister forgot her new baseball glove at practice. I paid for all my siblings sins. So many times. I never once wanted to hurt anybody but myself. I attempted suicide at age 12 & age 16. I failed. I became a healthcare worker who is licensed to operate the life support machines. I save lives. I also took in foster kids. 22. Ethan chose to do evil & should pay.

I look at it this way. Ethan has taken responsibility for what he’s done and not asked for a lighter sentence. But at least he can remember, sitting in jail the rest of his life, that at least his lawyers cared about him and called him a human being and said he was redeemable, were willing to stand up for him. He did a terrible thing. Absolutely! But his parents are more to blame than anyone. Since he was a tiny child, he didn’t have what he needed. I think he’s had a miserable life from the beginning. I don’t dispute the sentence. But I’m still so sad for this young man. At least he knows his attorneys care about him; he might not (understandably) think his own parents do. It’s so heartbreaking for everyone. They are all victims. I wish he could spend his adolescence in a prison with peers not adult men. I wish none of this had happened and that the victims were still living their lives in peace with their families.
