***** I pay attention in class. I pay attention to these fools. The problem is that they can't teach, and we, students, suffer from their incompetence... and must rely on the help of people like Tyler to pass THEIR classes.
@a.m.huchard34378 жыл бұрын
***** I was mostly speaking from a personal perspective. I've been attentive in class all my life, and sometimes that attention is in vain because no matter how much effort you put in succeeding in a subject, you won't get anywhere with an incompetent instructor. Maybe you're right about students not paying attention in class, I'm just saying that it's not the case for every student, just like it isn't the case for me. Sometimes (often), the teacher's to blame.

Mr. Dewitt is perfectly appropriate for today's student. I am not saying he isn't excellent at what he does, but many students nowadays are lazy and want to be spoon fed. When most American students can't tell you where Canada is, how are they to learn Chemistry? Mr Dewitt is perfect at spoon feeding - it is in fact a gift.

I must admit, your video was exceptionally clear on the explanation of redox, however, you didn't mention the imbalance of Nitrogen (N) going from +5 to +2, that would mean -3 gain of electrons occurred to the Nitrogen on the right hand side, additionally you didn't mention balancing the equation, I have a feeling you did this for simplification purpose's however, it has confused me a little now haha, if you could comment to clear it up I would really appreciate it.
@nigglyboy74186 жыл бұрын
I am probably waaay too late, but the reason for the imbalance of electrons is because the equation is unbalanced. The balanced equation is 2HNO3 + 3H2S > 3S + 2NO + 4H2O

Because when you follow the rules for hydrogen and oxygen you get (+1H) and (+6O), but remember since it is a neutral equation it has to =0. Therefore you make Nitrogen +5 and the equation goes like this: +1 + +5=6 -6=0
