The only thing you'll truly miss is the Panther 2. You'll get the maus later but Panther 2 is just in another league. Tiger 105 is my personal favorite but you'll get by using a tiger 2H. Panther 2 is just brilliant.

@@christianhaegler4817 I've spaded both and honestly I prefer kugel. It's weirdly survivable because of its ball turret design. I did like the coelian but after pen changes I just don't really like it. It's survivable only for poorly placed shots and even then, having your turret knocked out doesn't mean it'll be mobile enough to get into cover because of its Panther reverse gear. Also, kugel can survive just like the coelian from gun runs. Although kugel isn't that great in anti air role, its turret traverse just isn't there for properly tracking low flying maneuvering aircraft.

@@titan_tanker it’s not so much a case of bias as it is them focusing too much on stats. The “tiger problem” carries on to the rest of the tree, like how the Leo 1 was lowered from 7.7 to 7.3, or more recently the Leo 2 PL being lowered from 10.7 to 10.3 (despite the addition of 11.0). Plus if people are using the German M48 as a backup then it could be that it’s played more often in defeats, which lower the stats more?

Interesting to see you recommend RakjPz over M48 in the 7.7 lineup. I remember back when M48A2 GA2 was 7.7 it was such a breath of fresh air since you only had the Leopard 1 and the Maus at 7.7 for years vs the countless T-54s and Pattons, the only viable backup to the Leopard 1 was a Panther 2 due to its mobility and even at mild upteirs the Panther 2 did struggle while the newer M48A2 GA2 was beyond perfect. I used it as a second spawn religiously and even fell in love with it using it over the Leopard 1 on some maps. Great at taking hits from SPAA late game, autocannons from IFVs and since it didn't have the tumor coupla famous on Pattons, it could bounce alot and at range the armor would work to almost consistent levels. I have bounced poorly placed shots from Russian 122 to British apds to the point where "wiggling" in close quarter combat or an enemy pushing me while on a reload became a viable strategy. Coming from a Leopard (clocked in around 800 RB battles), the Patton was brilliant but gaijin in their infinite wisdom gave it a dart and relegated it to irrelevance at 8.3 without a stabilizer and armor that just can't do anything at that BR with negligible mobility. It's also sad to see no maus in a 7.7 lineup. I hope they bring it back. The 188 Ton useless beast is sometimes just fun. I think players, as myself did, went for the maus for its absurdity rather then its effectiveness as anyone who played German heavies would invariably come to the conclusion that armor doesn't really matter. I do understand gaijins inability to balance the tank and I really appreciate you talking about the what ifs of a BR change to this behemoth. Really puts speculative arguments to end especially the circlejerk on reddit regarding the Maus. Great video oxy. This one was the only video I was anticipating because I've spend so much time there and I really wanted to see your point of view on these tanks. Also on a side note, I know it might get tedious but the skins you use to showcase these tanks are not available for 'normal' players. It might be nice if you linked those skins or just a mention in the description would be great. As someone who follows in your footsteps and tries to spade everything that I play, I think having skins on tanks and planes just adds a layer of quality and character. I still go out of my way to complement skins, especially market ones. Edit: thank you for mentioning skins you used!

I decided to get it before they erased it from existence along with the Panther II, FlakPanzer 341, thank god, That Maus was my goal more or less for the German tree (which I'm maining atm), I know It's not really even that great, but you'll want it if you play Germany for ages. One of my first memories of WarThunder are not even managing to scratch the paint of the Maus on the shooting range, so I decided I wanted one, a Meme tank so powerful a 75mm is considered to be it's coaxial.

Jpz 4-5 sole advantage over the M41A1 is better HEAT-FS, making it capable of easily piercing T54 UFPs, whereas the 76mm HEAT-FS would require either range to get a flatter hit or side shots.... And at least the 90mm IS ACCURATE compared to 76mm APDS or HEAT-FS at ranges above 400m

@@santiagoperez2094, which os why the Jpz4-5 is so weak... The game doesn't let it perform what it should in a way that's reasonable for the Vehicle itself. Also, if they made CAS a less imposing threat (the main issue NATO vehicles have in general) or such a Meta breaker, vehicles such as the Jpz4-5 would be more convenient to use, that and a freaking rework on game structure to allow defensive vehicles to do their job

The problem is approaching jpz with a predetermined mindset. I think oxy talks about the autopilot mentality and his anology is perfect. Jpz works fine as an interloper or as a tank that exploits enemy weaknesses rather then going to a spot, sitting there and just doing a routine gameplay. When I started this think, I rushed caps just to get rid of apcr but even with the heatfs, I kept dying. The trick to jpz in my opinion is to, after getting heatfs, is to do a wraparound strategy. Hug map edges and pop in and out to take out enemies with your great reload and low profile. If you're spotted, pop smoke and reverse back forcing enemies to focus on you and less on what's in front of them. Honestly I loved it, I spaded it back when it was 7.0 and the only reason I did it was to get its rp bonuses for my top teir tanks and it did great at that. With its negligible repair costs, I didn't feel under pressure to perform at my best. For anyone on the fence about jpz, absolutely get it. But don't be obliged to play it on every map, just wrap around the map and it'll work in your favor generally.

@@asiftalpur3758, the point is that a bunch of vehicles either only work within certain styles and tactics or are put into a MM zone that just forces players to play in certain ways... Jpz 4-5 lack of a turret and low post pen damage of HEAT-FS leads to passiveness Being the only working tactic, the speed only serves to help it reach positions where it can reliably react to his surroundings, while the RU 251 has scouting, better speed and a turret, letting it be an aggressive scout/flanker. Leopard 2A5 is exceptional and flexible exactly because it has all tools for all jobs, it gives best results if playing defensively, but has all it needs to be aggressive, or a flanker even.... The Jpz 4-5 only gets a better gun for uptiers, the mobility is crippled by the lack of turret, the gun lacks flexibility because ONE shell type only has worth using and it's in a SPG, restricting the flexibility of its uses..... Had the Jpz 4-5 been given scouting as it should (let's be honest, this thing can be only played as a worse light tank, the speed and gun are all it has, but once again, a shit ton of other vehicles in other nations do the jpz job have scouting and other light tank features) it would have enough use to justify taking it over the M41A1

In my opinion, the BMP-1 is really good at CQC. Especially after the 1P modification, you can hit an enemy with the gun and then immediately with the ATGM, or get an easy double kill, and then hide back in cover. It doesn't do great at long range, however.

Still you'd have uptiers, so nothing would really change if they did what you're suggesting, if they did what you said though and reduced the BR flexibility to maybe 0.5 (maybe 0.6 or 0.4) instead of 1.0, that could work nicely, but then you'd potentially not have enough people playing at certain tiers and you'd need bots or the game" dies", I think that might be why they don't decompress the BR's atm.

For the Leo, The APDS is much more deadly now, it can easily one shot most tanks from the fron or 45° angle, and the hesh works great at taking out light tanks when they only expose a tiny bit of their tank.

FUN FACT. The BMP 1 at around 800m range can indirect fire using the binos with cover slightly covering the top of the turret. I've had games where I camped 5 meters behind a rock and mortared the enemy team. The arc down trajectory also means you can hit the top of turrets which makes it even more entertaining. There no better feeling 1 shotting a KT from 1500m away with the main gun because your shells are like Hellfire missiles.

I use the american M48 in my 7.7 lineup and treat the HEAT-FS vs APHE situation the same way i treat the APDS vs APCBC question in british tanks: Run around with the higher pen ammo loaded and more of it so that my first shot can pen and disable some part of the enemy vehicle, then switch to the higher damage round if it makes sense. I would rather be confident in a 2 or 3 shot kill than not damage the enemy at all going for the one-shot kill. This strategy gets easier once you know the layouts of enemy tanks so your first shot will almost always prevent them from firing back.

Would you consider doing a separate video for vehicles like the Maus, Tiger 105, or Panther II? I know theyre not part of the tree anymore but theyre just so iconic (the Maus mostly) and personally id love to see a video on them. Dont gotta read this if you dont wanna: Ever since I got them theyve been some of my favourite vehicles to play. The Maus is fun cause of its fake survivability/versatility through having just so many possible tricks even with its limited mobility, even in uptiers cause of how massive you are enemies take forever to pick you apart, add in your 75mm smoke/HEAT gun and your smoke canisters that fire backwards to cover your rear from flanking tanks and you become a great area denial vehicle that can hold enemies from passing, or provide cover for your teammates through attracting all the enemy fire lol. The Tiger 105 just feels like a turreted Jagdtiger, +1 crew and rangefinder along with an extra powerful gun means watching over a large area makes you extremely deadly. Panther II is just perfect basically, not much else to say. Thank you for taking the time to read this if you do.

The Jagdpanzer 4-5 SEEMS so much better than the M56 scorpion sans the M82 shot. It is a fully enclosed and equally mobile TD has a machine gun, one more crew member, faster reload, and smoke grenades. The m56 has the advantages of being shorter, thinner, and having a “turret”.

Would love to see the French Tree next as I've just started grinding them. Currently at 3.7 with the ARL and loving it. Gaijin also recently added some American tanks to the tree and I'm wondering if it's worth it to research them.

No, no ots not I'm at 8.0 with the french. The french are fun, because of the stupidity of there vechiles, the s.35 and the bis are great examples. But the 105 sherman has no lineup for it also at 8.0 the french still dont have stabilizers which can make the grind extremely painful

Tbh the jpz4-5 is my favourite 6.7 tank. I always do really good in it

For me the 10,5 Tiger 2 felt a bit pointless, especially after it was lowered to 6.7. The regular Tiger 2H does its job well enough for what it faces AND it has a much better reload.

It's basically a sniper variant of the 2H. Should ideally play it on larger maps.

S.35, it is easily one thee best medium tanks out there, get it if you're looking for a flexible tank, has more than 2 crew members (has 3 bjt whatever) reload is long but the armour is trolly as hell and puts the german autocannon nonsense to a stop, get the S.35. as fast as you fucking can then B1 bis. Best tanks in the game where the armour actually works
