I mean T-34 has sort of low skill base requirements, but due to maps nature, if you dont play like Oxy does (pick 1 OP position on map and shoot clueless people), lots of maps will punish heavily. And it is all fun and games until you realize that most enemies can just punch through hull.

I still prefer the turret on the 1942 T-34, just because the neck is smaller than the turret cheeks of the 1941. Also, a neck shot needs good vertical aim, and guns wobble vertically without stabilizers, not horizontally. Essentially, when coming to a stop to aim, it will take longer for enemies to aim at the neck that the cheek. If you use your mobility to catch enemies on the move, then hitting the neck is harder than hitting the cheeks of the 1941.

3 things to now always remember when playing Russia (this is from me playing them for like 3 years and this video) -Bad Gun depression (no depression in Soviet Union) -Long Reload (like even the 85s have a long reload - Inconsistent armor (The armor is stupidly situational. Don't rely on the armor. Do what Oxy said, moving around after you fire and use cover to your advantage)

To update what Oxy Said on the T-34 Proto; The T-34 Proto was available for purchase during the War Thunder 10 Anniversary event, and included 2k gold and 30 days of premium time. On PC, it, along with the German Sherman, were available for a limited time, at a limited supply. On Console, I BELIEVE it was an infinite amount, for as long as it was sold. But, don't take my word on it

1:01:25 just a heads-up: The 23mm cannons on the Il-2 are called ВЯ-23 or just ВЯ, which transcribes to VYa in English, not "YVA". The backwards-R-looking letter is the Ya. So for instance the fighter aircraft series we know as Yak-1, Yak-7 and so on is called Як-1, Як-7 etc.

I'd argue the MK IX is a great addition to a lineup. The soviets don't have much 3.0 tanks so this prevents you going from 2.7 straight to 3.3

The really irrititating thing in War Thunder is that it equalizes tanks against history. For example, two models can enter production exactly the same year but there is 2-3 BR difference between them because Gaijin can't be bothered with different methods of balancing such as spawn points or size of teams. This way T-34 for example hugely suffers while some nations like France and Italy are overpowered because they get advantage of ammo and features that were introduced 20 years later than their in-game counterparts.

Two things: I didn't hear you mention the biggest weakness of the KV-1S, that being the lower front plate, which is much thinner than it's fellow L-11 variant and can be punched through by just about any APHE round from any nation that it goes up against. Also, no love for the LaGG-3-34? Same 37mm as the Yak 9T at a lower BR. Heavier, not as maneuverable, but just as much punch for an anti-tank role. All in all though, even if I already own and have spaded almost all of these vehicles (save one or two of the unique ones, like the Prototype T-34) I enjoy this series. I catch a few things about some of these tanks that I didn't know about before.

This is a year old but I freaking hate playing the SU-122 and being uptiered against shermans. The HE shell does absolutely nothing to them and changing to HEAT in a pinch when you run against one in a corner is often not fast enough.

What do you think of the SU-76M at its new br of 2.0? I'm just starting to get into ground rb and I'm having an amazing time. These videos are so incredibly helpful btw, at first I was just dying and getting frustrated; but these have really helped me understand how to strategize in game. I think Oxy understates the abilities of the T-34 1942 just a tad. I'm pretty sure it's his best significant ground vehicle with a victory ratio of something like 85% If you're looking for a good low tier tank to play trying to get used to most of the early mechanics of the game, the T-34 (1942) is just about one of them best vehicles in the entire to do that with. It is a forgiving vehicle and teaches about almost every main aspect of WT gameplay from mobility to angeling to depression to identifying enemy weak spots.

T-28 actually has the worst and largest weakspot of all tanks in the game. The side armour gap between machine gun turret and the box behind it. Aim there with any 37mm and up, and it's a 1HKO 100 out of 100 times. Also the neck is a somewhat reliable kill if you can't get the best view on the prior. Also the ZUT-37 is unironically the best Tank Destroyer in the game with a fully trained/ aced crew and costs no spawn points to bring into battle. I used it until BR 8.0 with a K:D of 4.25:1 and have shot down jets with it.
