One thing I'm really hoping to see is the relationship between Elphaba and Madame Morrible be explored a little bit more. Like make Madam Morrible a sort of mother figure to Elphaba so that way when you find out she's the bad guy the Betrayal hits harder and even fans of the musical who have seen it a billion and one times will feel a deeper sense of betrayal

Couldn't the cricle motif be a nod to the letter O as in Oz? And I wonder if there will be an original song in this part, as well, since they' probably would want to be nominated for an Oscar for Best Original Song next year. I think that's one of the categories they would want to win.

Universal is opening a new theme park next year as part of their Florida resort and although all the worlds seem to have been announced there could be a Wicked area put in. The possibility is there.

Looks incredible!! Can't wait to see it in theaters. It seems they delve more into the Elphie and Glinda story, which I wished they'd done more of in the musical. The Brazilian unofficial musical version was incredible for how they focused on their relationship. I hope the movie does the same

So excited for this. I’m doubtful we’ll see “the fab five” at the beginning of the film followed by a flashback. Judging by the way Oz is revealed when Elphaba and Galinda first see him, it gives the impression that this is going to be our first look at him too.

Oh my god. This reaction could've been better if they only let a phrase finish before talking. They think they can disect this trailer more but in reality they missed a lot of emotional beat just because they couldn't atop talking for 3 seconds.

I’m hoping a hashtag gets started on X, and other social media that notifies those who didn’t read the book that, Fiyro, is a man-of-color, in the book. I’ve read the book twice and seen the show 8 times, so I’m familiar with the book and the many different… skin tones… of actors who’ve played, Fiyero, on stage. So as a Black Man, part me hates the casting of Jonathan. I understand why they don’t want a MOC in the lead role (don’t need to go down the rabbit hole) but I want the production to be embarrassed for those reason they didn’t cast of MOC.

Been thinking about this and I think that the film will end with Thank Goodness and on a very somber note. Then part 2 will start as a straight up remake of the OG Wizard of Oz - in full sepia tone. We will get some new songs in the second part along with a new Somewhere Over the Rainbow, and both stories will intercut between each other.

So, I have a question. I know nothing about Wicked, I live in Sweden and the musical had premiere just last year (😳), do I “need” to see (or read) the musical or anything to prepare? Will I understand the story by just watching the movie? 🫶🏻

The musical deviates a fair bit from the books. Reading the book is a good read and the musical is amazing {I saw it a week ago in Aus!} And maybe watching a slime tutorial could be good However, I'm sure you'd be fine going in blind if you can't access either of the media forms

@@mimikitties it's a fun read for sure, just be mindful that from what's shown here, it seems to take more from the musical, which does change some plots and removes a fair bit of story from the original books!
