I found your channel, and I got interested in how far you take this bike. I've been eyeing this bike for my son as his first decent bike and upgrading it as he progresses. One thing I notice is that you mention the brakes still making noise. With a 400 sand paper, you can scuff the disc brakes, if the noise still persists, then you scuff the pads, which you should do that even when they are new. Are you in OH? I notice a bunch of OH plates in the garage. Wonder if you are on the east side of OH. New subscriber here 👍

Hey thanks for the comment. Yep. I’ve done the sandpaper still not cooperating. I’m from Denver. I lived in Cincinnati and West Chester for 11 years. Moved to Austin for a few years, and we are now back in the Cincinnati area since 2022. We are in northern Kentucky now 😂

I noticed you can get the fork in quick release or through axel. Why did you go with the through axel instead of the quick release and not have to change the wheel?
@MASHLEY6925 күн бұрын
@@bryceellington6195 you’re right…I would have just gone QR, but my wheels that I already had on hand have interchangeable caps to run TA or QR. and I prefer the stiffness/strength of a thru axle 😊

Loving this series … this bike at Walmart is a game changer

Looks like your new fork is wanting a flat-mount brake caliper, not the post mount caliper(s) that come stock on this bike. That would eliminate the giant adapter you had to install, though functionally it would probably be about the same.

I built a FINNA Bike frame like you are doing, albeit my frame was more in cost I am sure like I did eventually you will come to a point where it becomes a low or mid level priced bike. The good thing about that is you can actually get the parts you want on it and I also enjoy putting it together. I put an enve fork on mine those things are mint. cheers

1lb is crazy light!

I know. It’s actually got me a bit nervous. I’m sure it’ll be fine, but damn…it’s like NOTHING! I’ve had the Poseidon x with a similar carbon fork, but never took it apart and felt the weight.

Hey Matt. Thanks for putting these vids together. Quick question. I’m 6’1” with a 33” inseam. Do you think this is a good fit or too cramped? Doing strictly road biking. Commuting to work 5 miles on a country road and a little bit of small city riding.
@MASHLEY694 ай бұрын
It might be a little tight. I’d try and see if you can find these in store to throw a leg over and see the fit. There are ways to make the bike fit bigger too. Raising the saddle height. Longer stem are ways to stretch the bike a bit.

Is the carbon fork the biggest weight saver?
@MASHLEY694 ай бұрын
The stock fork being 3.5lbs and the carbon fork right around 1lb so only save around 2 there. But it definitely helps. The combination of everything I’ve done has gotten the bike down to about 24 lbs

They should just go with Ozark for the brand name. Weird to use their backpack lines name for bikes.

Pretty sure Ozark Trail is their all around outdoor brand. That is what all their camping gear is branded as well.

This bike should come with carbon fork at $300 price point.
