I'm just throwing it out there, RISK makes good headsets, and I got VG Sports 10 speed freewheel 11-36t.

I got mine yesterday. I'm 6ft 2 and need a different stem it's about 1 inch 2 low. Already ordered Ltwoo R5 group and a carbon fiber fork.

Which fork did you order? I’m looking at the Toseek straight ones…

If you change the headset, why not install a headset for a tapered fork? External lower cup bearings will fit in that headtube and voila, fork upgrade time! That gap might have been caused by the chipping from removing the original crown race. Facing the crown should help.

I have a lower taper adapter sitting around. And yep, I’ve upgraded the fork. Will share soon

Could you measure to see the widest tire that would fit?

Saw your BB and crankset swap out. What other parts beside the pedals have you replaced that isn't in a video? Just curious what the tally cost is so far. By the time it's said and done, you'll have practically a new bike. Wondering if the costs outweigh buying a higher quality bike at a LBS.

The cost vs a “better bike” might not make sense for most. I’d always opt for a better bike. Sometimes the entry point for those bikes are hard to swallow. Times are tough and this bike gets you going for a great price. If you decide it’s not for you, you’re not out much. If you do like it you can upgrade things as you see fit, or save up and get that next bike which will be better. It’s all going to be a unique situation for everyone.

I have intalled hundreds of headsets. it works out easier if you rotate the bike to where the head tube is horizontal.
@MASHLEY695 ай бұрын
Oh now you tell me 🙃, I’ve done my fair share of headsets too and I would have NEVER thought to rotate the bike!! That is an amazing tip! Thanks.

Besides being sealed, are there any other benefits compared to the factory headset?
@MASHLEY695 ай бұрын
I prefer these because they tend to have a longer life. The bearings that come inside will work just fine. however they tend to wear down faster, as they can get water and dirt inside.
@vwvr6t5 ай бұрын
Just replace them as they wear out, keep your money to upgrade.

Yeah..... There is not supposed to be a gap at the headset like that. I just looked at my G1 EXPLORER for reference.

I just put a carbon Niner fork on my Ozaki Trail. The race on the factory fork is plastic and falls right off.

What size headset kit is it? I stripped my star bolt and can't find any specs for a replacement for the ozark trail gravel bike. Thanks

I did not get what you disliked about the stock head set?

Did you replace the brakes? That's my only complaint with this bike atm. What do you recommend if the brakes are noisy?
@MASHLEY695 ай бұрын
I’ve tried scuffing the pads. Bedding them in “properly” and they just won’t shut up! lol. I’ve gone with a different pad, still a little noisy but will have to bed these ones in as well. Will report back.

Get some sand paper like 400 and scuff the disk, just bent the paper on a u shape and use your hand as a caliper and turn the wheel, a turns should take care of the noise, if the noise still there then scuff the pads. Also, make sure the shifter is pulling the right amount of pressure. M2C... good luck.
