With Jackery being the top brands for Overlanders when looking at a portable power station to power a fridge, we take a look at the Jackery Explorer 1000 and compare it to its little brother, the Jackery Explorer 500, and see which one is the better option for Overlanders and how well it works as a home emergency backup power option. We also look at the Jackery SolarSaga 100 solar panels.

I have 1000, 500, 300, 240 I know some people would think this is over kill but there was a power outage that we experienced that lasted for two days and we were able to keep the refrigerator and our large frizzer going, we didn’t lose any food and were still able to charge our electronic devices. I had all my solar panels charging each unit every day. I believe that with good planning you can make it through difficult times. Great video thank You for sharing.

We have used the kzbin.infoUgkxOTeIs0vv4_9B5hsmnLsk9r930uDQLu_Y for probably 30 hours with our camper and it’s been great! The noise level is really only noticeable when running the AC and other appliances like the microwave, hair dryer, or coffee pot. It’s not huge like other ones and it has wheels so even at 90lbs, I can move it!

Great video! I have the Jackery 1000, picked it up late last year when Jackery was running a sale. I haven't had much of an opportunity to really use it yet, that will happen soon (but not soon enough!). I've got an ICECO VL60 dual-zone fridge that will be the primary consumer but I also want to be able to run some form of heat in the cooler weather if needed, be it a diesel heater, 12v blankets, etc. If I could find the "ideal" diesel heater setup then that would be perfect since that would help fight or eliminate condensation in the RTT. There are just so many diesel heater options out there (I say that but really they seem to be rebrands or copies of each other from China in terms of budget heaters) with mixed reviews it makes it a little difficult to pull the trigger. If anyone has recommendations for a solid, self-contained diesel heater that they've had good luck with then I'm all ears. Lack of heat has been the biggest reason why we haven't gone out since last fall.

Although the Jackery Explorer 1000 can’t power the heater; you can use a electric blanket that will be more efficient and last longer. I think that Jackery is going to launch their new and much more powerful unit soon this March. We’ll see what Jackery is going to offer this time around. Great video by the way.

Hi there could I ask a question please. I am looking to buy a solar powered generator for myself as I am on my own and live in Ireland and would not be surprised if there will be power cuts soon as they have been hinting at it. So, I rent right now but do also have some land. I would be looking for something portable that could sustain just a couple of appliances but also if push came to shove might be able to run a mini fridge say. I was recommended Power Oak 700. Is this the same as the Bluetti? Somebody said it was. I am a musician so The jackery also seems more portable if I was to use it for busking in the meantime also. Any and all of your advice would be appreciated. Thank you so much

Great video! I agree with your point about the Jackery 1000 not being able to power a heater. An electric blanket is definitely a more efficient option. Can't wait to see what Jackery has in store for their new unit. Speaking of portable power stations, have you checked out the Segway Portable PowerStation Cube Series? It offers massive capacity, fast recharging, and versatile sockets. It might be worth considering for your outdoor adventures and home backup power needs. Keep up the great content!

12:19 Keep in mind there's no load on that impact driver, if you don't have something to put it under load then take a look at the power draw on the tool itself. It's probably 7A so under load it could draw close to 850w. Still nothing the Jackery 1000 can't handle!

Hi, glad I just came across your channel. I am getting into a Ford Transit for “full time “ living at least for 3-4 months at a time. Since it’s something new for me I was thinking getting the Jackary 1000 with the 2 solar panels to have capacity for a fridge, one burner induction stove, heating blanket, charging phone and pad. My question is if you would go this route or jump right into a full battery package that would give me the option of the other charge alternatives.
@OzarkOverlandAdventures
@OzarkOverlandAdventures Жыл бұрын
I don't think a Jackery 1000 is enough to adequately power all that. Induction stoves and heating blankets use a lot of power. I'd go with a 2000wh option like the Bluetti AC200P or just do it right and do 200ah Lithium batteries and a Redarc BCDC1250 charger. I have a couple videos on my setup and comparing to the Jackery 1000. Those might be helpful.

When you plug a window air conditioner, or I’m guessing rooftop A/C unit into a power source, it won’t turn on the compressor for 3 minutes. It does this in case there’s been a power outage. If you were drawing less than 200 watts with the rooftop unit plugged in, most likely only the blower was running. You should have waited a few minutes for the compressor to cycle on. Most A/C units have very high current draw on startup. Maybe more than even the Jackery 1000 can handle.

I was shocked that a 500w battery pack powered my daughter's LG linear compressor home fridge for around 9 hours. This was after sitting approximately 3 hours after the power went out before the backup was plugged in. If it had been plugged in earlier and not lost so much temperature due to the 3-hour gap it would have lasted much longer I think. This was also with the Baldr 519w.

Good video. I'm trying to decide between the Jackery 1000 and the Bluetti ECOFLOW. Would like to know how long it would run a 32" TV, cable box and router. Big problem when our lights went out was lack of info. Cell towers were either frozen or overloaded no voice or data possible and texts were taking 3 to 5 minutes to go through. Local radio was on a loop broadcasting the same info every 30 minutes.

Jackery lists the USB-C ports as 12v up to 3A, so 36w, not 18w. Still not 60w like some others, but better than 18w. The USB-A QC 3.0 port is up to 12v and up to 1.5A so that is 18w.

So for a regular size home fridge with the freezer on top would the jackery last two days???

What is the actual lifespan of this Jackery 1000 generator. Certainly it would depend on its usage so using it moderately, summer camping and emergency only home use - would you say 5 years, 10 years? Or more ?

Before anyone buys anything I think there is a Jackery event coming up this week (Jackery Days March 17) and they are releasing new products. Just an FYI Oh, and they really need to get rid of that handle! It's obtrusive. They should make the top flat just like the Japanese models.

How will the Jackery work in minus 20 celsius weather? Reason being I want to use it for Ice fishing at night for lights.

@@OzarkOverlandAdventures I don't own the Jackery, but I was reading the literature a while ago and I seem to recall that it won't allow it to be discharged to the point of damaging the battery. That being said, they all have lifespan based on the number of charge/discharge cycles.

For the saw, you need to cut something. Same goes for the impact drill. There was no load on either of these.

Same goes for everything. Draw will be higher to keep up with the waffle iron temps when you are actually cooking something. This is not a dependable review. I hope you can correct in the future when you have some time. Great video. Thank you.

@OzarkOverlandAdventures We’re thinking the Jackery 500, but my concern is we need more than just one 120v outlet for two laptops (preferably 3) What do you suggest?
