One of the saddest moments in music history. What an iconic band.

The moment he stepped on that stage that night I knew it was gonna be incredible. Cried the whole way thru the set. Saw complete strangers crying and hugging each other throughout the whole night. He was truly one of a kind. Gordie we all love you and miss you terribly.

What a truly, truly beautiful man. A poet, a dancer, a thinker; strong, courageous, brave, and bold, even while facing death. Gord Downey is and forever will be something I aspire to be. The path he walked in life was one to be emulated. What a role model.

2023- still cry. Knowing he had only weeks left to live, he threw a farewell concert. Gord's 'screaming' was his response to the unfairness of it all, the final ever song of The Tragically Hip. See you down the road somewhere, Gord

I can say with complete confidence, this was the greatest concert I've ever seen or ever will see again. His screams made me cry that night. Just broke out ugly crying watching this. That last night in Toronto was MAGICAL! (Thanks for sharing your video with us, you had much better seats than we did!) ;)
@rca65766 жыл бұрын
Kingston was even more magical with all of us gathering who were there with this band from the very beginning. From high school through all the local bars they played to that last night. The love, sorrow, gratefulness was unspeakable.

@@rca6576 did you go to both? Many did. Would love to have gone to the Kingston show, but I am complete having been there for their last night in Toronto. Many in our fan group have even said they went to several shows on this tour and there was something pretty special happening in the ACC this night. I'll treasure those memories till the day I die, as I'm sure you will yours.

I live in Kingston, I knew these guys WAY back in the day. I was at the Copper Penny shows if that tells you anything. My spouse and son were in Toronto and then yes, headed this way for the Kingston show with me. The Kingston show was pretty bitter sweet what with running into people who had been there since the beginning I hadn't seen in years. Anyway, I have my memories, house parties from way back, and all that happened after those days...we never dreamed it would be all this but, it was and they can't take that away from any of us.

I love Gord and the Hip... But I hate the thumb nail for this video. Not trying to be a shit or anything, I just think that it's a misrepresentation of how strong this man was right up to the moment of his passing.
@stevemccallum65845 жыл бұрын
If you read the book "The Never Ending Present" about Gord and the Hip it gives a different perspective. Was he emotionally breaking down? Or was he performing but allowing emotion? The book's perspective was he was a pro even in this moment... never misses a beat... wraps it up with a Thank you.
@andrewsanger3 жыл бұрын
I think I have to agree with Steve. Everything I read and saw about Gord towards the end, was that he didn't shy away from all the emotions he was feeling. In that moment, he's certainly performing, but he's also letting it all out. Leaving it all on stage as they say.
