Hello ! Could you please do an update on this topic now that there is a study that has just been published about the use of Semaglutide in lactating mothers

Thank you for your info. My endo suggested I wait until baby is at least a year just in case I lose my milk supply but did say research doesn’t show it getting into breastmilk. I have a great relationship with my endo and I trust her so I agreed. And your video helped me out with giving myself grace and just focusing on nourishing baby. Thank you!

So glad to hear!! Yes we don’t expect it to impact supply, but the Grace you give yourself for the first year pp is crucial. ♥️♥️♥️

Can we get a Type 2 diabetes and nursing video? Challenges, blood sugar control tip, etc 💜 pretty please
@DoneNaturally Жыл бұрын
I address this briefly with antenatal expression. But yes it can go on my list. Babies born to type II diabetics often are very sluggish feeders (bottle and breast) and it can take them quite some time to get effective and efficient at feeds. Especially an insulin dependent mother’s baby.

But they will never conduct studies on pregnant and lactating women anyway….so this doesn’t help
@DoneNaturally Жыл бұрын
Of course they can. Women who already would do it and gather research.

What if prediabetic
@DoneNaturally Жыл бұрын
Well it’s indicated for diabetics, so that’d be a different story is my guess. So definitely worth a convo with your dr and be gentle with yourself and expectations during lactation.

I am in the same boat. Prediabetic is a ship that can be turn around. I have improved my sugar levels to normal level, by cutting carbs and eat more protein, and just walking around the yard. Be positive and celebrate your micro achievements. You got this. 😊

Do you see a pediatrician? Let the doctor know what is going on. Everything will be ok. Sometimes baby do things at their own pace and sometimes baby have special needs either way it will be ok but you need to reach out to a doctor so they can start to figure out what is going on. I will pray for you and the baby.

Remember,babies develop differently. Your baby should be fine.Mine is 5 months and doesn't roll yet , but he will in his time. We can't hasten some things.

You are doing amazing, first and foremost because you care about things like this! I promise you, my son didn’t roll until 7.5 months and he’s now crawling all over at 11 months. Just put her on the floor! Enjoy the time, god bless❤️

I rarely comment on KZbin videos, but this struck a nerve. You’re a LC, not a bariatric professional, correct? So who are you to comment on WHO should be using this medication? Background since you clearly haven’t don’t the research: -FDA prescribing guidelines for GLP-1 inhibitors require a BMI of 27 with a weight related illness, I.e. diabetes, high BP, etc. or a BMI of 30, making someone morbidly obese and at a high risk of weight related health problems. -this medication isn’t for PP moms who have 10lbs to loose. So you’re “give yourself grace” comment, is ridiculous. -under FDA and insurance guidelines, you need to prove you’ve attempted other weight loss options, i.e. diet and exercise. -regarding the medication, ozempic, itself, it is the same medication as wegovy. However they rebranded it as wegovy, and some insurance chooses to cover it under the same ozempic, rather than wegovy. So ozempic may not be approved specifically for weight loss, but wegovy is and is the same medication. Please do your research on that. -GLP-1 inhibitors have been proven for years to be better than bariatric surgery. CURRENT RESEARCH (which clearly you’re not up to date on) has shown in numerous studies, weighted loss is hormonal -which is why there is a huge failure rate with weight loss surgery. Are there wealthy people paying their doctors to prescribe these medications illegally, of course. These are the same people who prescribed opioids illegally. There will always be medications prescribed to wealthy people illegally. But before you make comments on something, make sure you have the facts. I came here to see if it was safe during lactation, not to have some ignorant LC act as an MD.

There’s actually a lot more people who aren’t wealthy and not morbid obese who are able to get this medication. I know about 5 and it confuses me. I don’t see how you can call her ignorant when she answered the question but just also gave some encouragement to give yourself grace because having a baby is a lot and with sue time we can get back to out bodies. My own endocrinologist gave me the same exact thing when I asked she said let’s work on some things and give it time if by X date I still feel the same we can start making a plan to try it.
@jenniferpellersels2429 Жыл бұрын
@@chantelthomas9705 it’s off label use is for weight loss, however, the prescribing guidelines set by the FDA for off label use require obesity OR over weight with a comorbidity. -fact check yourself. It’s disgusting she’s on here bashing it for people who actually need help.

@@chantelthomas9705 also thanks for reminding me to keep reporting it until it’s taken down. She should not be an LC.

Omg thank for writing this. I commented something but there’s far more wrong with this video. To use thalidomide as an equivalent is also the wrong use of an example. In the 1950s, scientists did not know that the effects of a drug could be passed through the placental barrier and impact a foetus in the womb, so the use of medications during pregnancy was not strictly controlled. We know this now, and also studies are not often done on pregnant and lactating women so we depend on animal studies at first and then retrospective studies where perhaps people were forced to use the drug while lactating.
