Ned, you are like Gandalf, who was also a fireworker, you will recall. It won't surprise your fans if you come up with a heading with multicolored crosetts and go-getters, and a giant glittering dragon that swoops low above the crowd, to the terror and delight of all the spectators.

We were watching a display once, where shells were breaking with white go-getters that flew spiral wise. My friend was asking me about them, and he referred to them as "sperms from space".

That was certainly the scene from the movies that caught my eye the most. Very cool, and it'd be great to be able to duplicate it in real life. But, alas, we have to strive for more simple real-world effects.

@@nedgorski When I was a teenager in the 60s, I was experimenting with pyrotechnics, mostly all self-taught. One of my early devices was a pinwheel which I made from a steel coffee can lid. I left the rim intact, and made interior cutouts, which I bent down into fins, then I wired on two opposing rocket engines to the rim; sugar/KNO3 fuel. I fired it and was about 30 feet away, when it lifted off beautifully. When it was about 10 feet up, the centrifugal force tore it apart, and one jagged piece with the motor on it, went zinging sideways a couple of inches above my head. Conclusion: would not recommend for a spectator event.

Sounds a bit like OddJob in Goldfinger. Not to be messed with.@@bellowphone

@@nedgorski Indeed. But a good rule of thumb is that one should always attempt to make his armaments more dangerous to his enemies, than to himself.

A true wizard of the craft Ned. How you're able to get your blues and violet so perfect is incredible. I wasn't sure if your website was still going or not but sounds like it is. I'll have to get a membership just to see how you do this.
