HI all,
here is a follow up review of the oztio 36v chainsaw that was sent to me several months ago for review from ozito.
I've now had a chance to spend some more time with the chainsaw and better udnerstand its strengths and weaknesses.
I'm still loving the saw and not having to carry petrol in the car but you have to be aware of their limitations when it comes to a long days work.

Excellent review. I was thinking of buying the Ozito for camping. From what you are saying, it would be ideal. Thank you...

I bought one 5 years ago, and its been extremly usefull. I use it on tree branches, firewood preparations, clearing fishing spots, roofing, making rustic furniture from pellets. It is very versitile and eazy to use.

Getting myself one...2022 storms in adelaide, I used the little Oz 18v to clear a couple of roads and a couple driveways in the neighbourhood, four hours work, half a dozen medium sized trees and the smaller parts of a big red gum, used one bar on a 5.2amp battery and a resharpen.

Just picked up this saw and it’s a beast! Shockingly powerful for a cordless electric, never mind the price!

I'm still happily using mine Karl. A mate just bought an AEG 56v though and it has so much more power than this one. Mind you I think it's like 3 times the price. 1 battery is about the cost of a full kit of Ozito. It is a bloody ripper though. When time permits, I'm gonna get hold of it for a review. I already have a small amount of footage. Horses for courses I guess.

they're $69 except when they match ALDI.($39 this time, $29 last time) They have 2 batteries that are only cosmetically different that they sell ozito.com.au/products/18v-4-0ah-battery/ and ozito.com.au/products/18v-4-0ah-li-ion-battery/

I have one of those Echo saws and it's fantastic. My only gripe would be it has a small tank and does require constant refueling.

I was just looking at a new higher voltage saw like the ego or echo at 56v. Hard to find at the moment though. I like those little makhitas with the 10" bars and dual batteries. They look brilliant. Which model is yours?

you need to tell ozito to release a 12 v charger for their batteries

Haha. I did mention it to them when they first sent out some gear. Is live to be able to not have to use the inverter to charge from the car.

Hey mate. Good review. Is the trigger full on and full off or pressure relative/"throttle" like the 18v drill etc?

The bar oil leak is the pressure in the bar oil tank. Undo the cap on the bar oil tank when putting it away and the leak will go away.

thanks for the tip. It's only leaks a tad when sitting for a while. so not enough to worry about really. I'll try that out though for sure. You have me curious about it .

I also store it on it's side so it doesn't syphon out. I've just ordered the kit from Bunnings for $276 . Hey it's got 5 year warrenty, so even if it craps out after that it's worth it. The next cheapest choice is 82 volt victa for $450. I'll let you know how it goes. JD

Nice review Brett, I use the EGO 56v Chainsaw and love it. Most of my cutting is firewood and not too much big stuff and find that electric has come a long way and is the way to go. perfect for bush work. cheers

Hey CW. I've heard great things about the EGOs . I know a few people picked them up for a steal back when masters closed. Wish I knew back then about them, and I would have picked one up for sure. I just came back from a camping weekend and the 36V did a great job collecting a shed load of wood for back at camp. If nothing else, chucking it back in the pajero and not worrying about the smell is bloody brilliant. I'll still keep my petty for harder stuff but for general use, this is what I grab. The more I use it, the more I like it. I reckon the 56V would be a ripper.

Thanks mate! Just got a ozito with 4 batteries! Haven’t received it yet but can’t wait! What do you think it’ll be like collecting a Ute load of fire wood? As that’s what I am using it for. I have small fire place. Cheers

With 4 batteries, id say you'd go close. So long as your not taking massive cuts.

Had it out just last week. Everything I've reviewed on the channel is still working as it did in the review. One of my mate picked up an aeg 58v unit and I've been impressed with that so I've been checking out similar units with the higher voltage. The echo and ego seem to be well regarded but hard to find. Plus the cost compared to the ozito is pretty high. I also checked out the little makhita 306 for a compact unit to mount somewhere in the pajero but they're not cheap either . So I'm sticking with my ozito. 😁

he says so Al, but I don't believe him. He's sold on the battery power saws now , after playing with mine and using them camping and is in the market for one. I think he's going a little more up market . Steve likes his brand named stuff, so I think he'll end up with something a bit more pricey compared to the ozito.

DENMONKEY Yes plenty of people are hung up on buying major brands over lesser known/regarded products. I do to but like to keep an open mind and give the ‘lessers’ a chance. All in all i have won big time on these. The Aldi brushcutter, hedge trimmer, pole saw combo for $149. Absolutely flawless for the two years ive ran them. Ozito angle grinders with 3 year warranty. Cant beat it.
